The schools are still open here. So far we have not had a really bad flu season yet. Crossing my fingers!

I heard on Chattanooga's channel 3 that the 'flu was hitting hard in the TN Valley. We live near the TN border and yesterday at the school where my ddil teaches, they had 76 kids absent. That 's out of around 4-500 kids, I think. I doubt our school system would cancel due to the 'flu. To my knowledge, it never has.

Wow! To my knowledge the schools here haven't shut down for anything other than the weather. Course I homeschool, but I will watch the news and see. But As far as I know there haven't been any flu related closings here.

There have been 2 school districts in our surrounding area that have closed for 2 days last week due to the flu. They had over 17% of the students out sick as well as numerous staff members. We haven't had this problem in our school district yet.

Haven't heard of that happening around here yet this year, but I have heard of it in years past. Dd's school is off for mid-winter break this Fri and Mon, something they schedule every year for after PT conferences.

I wish our school would close due to sickness!! We've got a nasty virus going around and kids puking all over the building!! I can't take my first graders down the hall without having to step around a fresh deposit of YUCK. To my knowledge, we've never closed due to illness - only weather. We've missed a record 4 DAYS this year due to weather!
