Default Have you ever threatened to do something that would embarass your child

My son liked to push the envelope in grade school I told him if didn't behave in class I would personally show up to school to sit next to him wearing the hillbilliest clothing, hair in curlers and escort him  from class to class. He knows i would have.

When they were younger & would whine for certain things while we were out shopping and wouldn't let up I told them "don't make me sing the song". Well after hearing me sing the Rolling Stones song "you can't always get what you want" in the middle of the store a few times they learned i was serious and behaved.

You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you might find
    You get what you need

    What about you?

Darlene, I can see you now sitting in Mrs. Smith's 3rd grade class, apron on, curlers in your hair, barefoot of course and Mark dying from embarrassment!

Oooohhh yeah I have. There are several things but I'll share a couple.

One time when ds and girlfriend were sitting a bit too close at a basketball game I sent a note via a friend's kid to them saying either move apart where I can see some daylight or I'm going center court and doint the macarena. When they got the note and looked up in the stands I was standing up "warming up". They were mortified

The other one was I was always saying to them, don't be late for your curfew...ya just never know where your momma will be at midnite in her ratty old housecoat. They knew I wasn't just kidding

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

many days I tell my kids, they can go to school dressed or they can go in there PJ's, so far they have gotten dressed.

One day my DS in 1st or 2nd grade would not walk to school (we could see the school from the house, I could see him walk into the school door ) I had his 2 little sisters they were around 4 and 1yrs old and not awake yet so I didn't walk him to school, and I worked nights so I was not dressed. I told him I would walk him to school just theway I was (in pajamas and a robe) he refused and I got some shoes on and started down the driveway and he said "FINE! get back in the house I am going!"
So when I threaten doing embarassing things they beleive me.

When my teenage daughter tried to buy a too revealing bikini I threatened to buy one for myself. And wear it when we went to the beach that summer. Needless to say she never bought it.

A few years ago,I told Ashley if she didn't start particpating in gym class,I'd be up there and sit next to her.She hated gym class and eventually quit and went into the band.Since she took 3 years band, she's not required to take PE again....what a little sneak! But she knows I would've come down there and showed "my hiney"

About a month ago,Katie wasn't behaving during lunch. She was getting up,dancing, and carrying on.I told her if she didn't start sitting down and eating lunch,I'd show up and sit right next to her and all her friends would laugh at her....She says " I think we eat lunch at 11,and I sit on table 4 "

    No,I never went lol

I'm glad to know I'm not the only singer. LOL I will regularly sing. We could be at wal mart,Hobby Lobby, Ect. I sing loud and strong, and increadably off key.
