I met my fiance at work. We dated 8 months after I began working at the same tutoring center as he was already working. He seemed great with kids and has a good sense of humor and personality. We started dating the day before my 25th birthday. This month will mark our 5 years together
and my 30th birthday

We met on ICQ in 2001. He was in Germany and I in the US, so we both never thought about a relationship or anything like that. In 2003, I ended up going to Germany for reasons not involving my now husband at all. It just turned out though that were I was staying was near to where he lived. Due to severe problems with my supposed host family, I ended up calling him to rescue me out of sheer and utter desperation. He came and picked me up and that was that.

OK, I've waited 5 pages to decide whether or not to respond to this, due to the SHAME.

We met in a BAR, OK? So sue me! LOL!
But we were 18/19 and had gone out with our friends (he with a pal and me with my goilfriends) and that was the days when you could buy 3.2 beer and dance at --basically what amounts to discotechs. (sp?)
My uncle owned the bar (so he kept a GOOD eye on me) and dh lived a little ways away and we'd both heard there was a very good band there playing (they WERE!) and he asked me to dance.
OK, you'll have to excuse my defensive rant, my dh's partner and his wife met at CHURCH and they always made me feel as if I should hang out the red light outside my door.

We met in college. I worked food service at the boys dorm cafeteria, and he lived there!

Ooo, I like this thread. I think we have a unique story, and tons of weird coincidences (like our fathers growing up in the same house, years apart.)
I was 17 and home from my freshman year of college for a weekend. I was hanging out with a friend, watching tv, bemoaning the upcoming winter break loss of my cadre of guys I was casually seeing at school when a commercial came on for a local restaurant. He looked so wild and incredibly masculine, not at all what my "type" usually was (I'll just add here that the guy I saw right before my hubby is now a member of the Log Cabin Republicans, so, yeah, lol.) Straddling a motorcyle, leather jacket, welding glasses used for sunglasses, crazy curly hair everywhere, huge beard, eatin' ribs. I said, "there, THAT's the kind of guy I want to have a fling with over winter break."
She laughed and said, "Hey I know him, he's my brother's friend!" I joked and said she should get me his autograph, being a big tv star and all.
About a week later she brought me a picture of him in a tux from her brother's wedding, and wow was he gorgeous! I asked her if her brother could give him my number (which was very forward from my personality.) It took awhile, but he finally called me after Christmas and asked me out. I was SO nervous, and I was just never nervous that year with boys, so it was as if I knew he was special.
Turned out that he was totally opposite of the rowdy short-term-worthy guy I was expecting and I fell in love, for the first time, so fast. I mean, he has his rowdy party roughness, but he was/is also a respectful, intelligent, hardworking sweetie, and a virgin still at 22. Our second date was something like 20 hours long, and we've been joined at the hip ever since. We've been together 11 years, married for seven (we actually got married on the fourth anniversary of our first date, exact time and everything.) We've been through so many hardships, and managed to really grow up together. I love him now more than ever. Man that was a long winter break, huh?
