What a great day!
My children and I just had one of those wonderful days .....where everything seems to go so well....... It seems especially precious because of all the difficulties Dh and I have been having....
It started with !4 yr old Dd having a wonderful time with Oliver...he allowed her tohalter him and groom him and he followed her everywhere. She was so happy...And our neighbour sent her home with a grooming kit for Oliver, she just gave it to her, it needs cleaning up but it has everything she needs in it.
I then got my surprise "spa" pkg from a village angel, it made me feel so loved......
Then we arrived at the music school and my 8 yr old Dd and DS were called into the office they had both won a Christmas music CD and a big fancy container of Christmas MM's for there practice-a-athon pledge sheets (they were the top two fund raisers). They were so thrilled! And little Dd's teacher gave her a pair of really high quality snowpants which her children had outgrown, just what she needed.
Then Ds participated in a "In house" Judo tournament and he came in first in his division! He won a trophy. His first in Judo! Oh my, he was walking on cloud nine.
And Eldest Dd recieved a candy gift basket at her Ist aid cadets .....it was a lovely, lovely day......

Sounds like a wonderful day. I love your positive attitude Holly. I think it rubs off on your kids and makes a huge difference when we're struggling. Congratulations go to your kids on their wonderful achievements.

It's so encouraging and uplifting to have days like that! We all need them from time to time.

Awh, Gee, Thanks Kathy.
And thanks to everyone for sharing my joy.
Dh and I are quite amazed at how well the children are doing. In spite of our difficulties the children are thriving, and in some instances excelling. Dh says the harder things seem to get the more blessed the children seem to become? It doesn't seem to compute.
But, it is the one thing that keeps Dh and my hardships in check and it reaffirms our choices. So I thank God, every minute for that. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you.............

I'm so glad you all had a wonderful day

Is your dd in cadets with St John Ambulance? If she is, I wonder if our children have met. Was your dd on a first aid team that competed in Campbell River? My ds was coaching a junior team and my dd was captain of her senior team who came in first place last June.
Anyways, enough of my rabbit trail. Congratuations you all your children in their accomplishments.~ Tina ~

Hi Tina
Dd just joined St.Johns this October. She initially did because of a recommendation by a scout leader. He said it was a good way to get the standard 1st aid training for free, which she needed for her Chief Scout award. The meetings actually worked in our already overcrowded schedule (wonder of wonders) so she started attending. Well typical Dd, she is really enjoying it! She is moving to the head of the cadets group and she thinks she just might continue. She hasn't recieved a uniform yet.
But she really enjoys the challenge of emergency scenarios.......and what a gift it is if she should ever need it!
So are these competitions yearly events?

Yes, I believe the competitions are yearly. Last June was the second time my kids were involved.
There is a competition in my town as well. It's not St John but all cadet groups. Both dks have competed in that and they've won a few times. Two years ago dd received the top captain's award for all of BC.
Maybe your dd will attend NCO camp in spring break down your way. Dd has completed the three levels and MIGHT teach this year.
I think it wonderful that they have the skills to save lives. My kids have used it a few times and saved a little boy's life once. Unfortunately there is the down side and that came for us last winter when dd tried to save a lady's life but she died. There was nothing more dd could do; we were later told the lady was dead before she hit the ground. It still was very difficult for my dd.
My kids have been involved with SJA for 5 or 6 years now. They love it
