i am so frustrated! maitlynn was readmitted to the hospital friday night, they took her to a different hospital becuse it was closer. this hospital says she is NOT failure to thrive, she has a uti, acid reflux, and is mspi. when i asked them how she could be failure to thrive and univeristy and not there the nurse told me the other hopital must have made a mistake. at childrens, her weight is a pound less then at university, but they have her at the 25th % not under the 5th. i am so confused and really don't understand what is going on. but she is stil there, tomorrow she will under go tests to make sure her urine is leaving her body and not backing up into her kidneys

So it's E. Coli UTI (urinary tract infection)? That's really very common. It just means a bit of her own poo germs got up into her urethra. It is NOT ANYTHING like the E. Coli people have gotten from eating undercooked ground beef. E. Coli is a normal part of everyone's bowel 'flora' - it's one of the 'good' bacteria as long as it stays in balance. If it is 'just' a UTI, then there is no danger to family members.
The weight percentile could be a genuine error. She should have been weighed without even a diaper for best accuracy, but perhaps someone thought she was older at the other hospital - that would put her %ile lower. Or maybe just got distracted and didn't line up the dots incorrectly. I have to say that I have worked in facilities where we were stretched so thinly that we made errors like that. Thank God that my current hospital values their nurses and gives us reasonable work loads.
Keep us updated.
