Gotta Tell You
I really like my kids.
I mean, obviously, I love them. They are my children. But, even if they weren't my kids, I'd like them. They really make me smile. They both have such personality and such great senses of humor. They are constantly surprising me and I just love being around them.
I see parents all the time who appear to be merely tolerating their kids. I feel badly for both the parents and the kids in those scenarios.
Anyway, I just wanted to share. They definitely bring me joy.

Amy what a wonderful post. I'm the same way. My kids bring me such joy. They have such unique personalities and it's wonderful watching them grow into young adults. It's also a real treat for me to help them in their growth, kwim.

Amen to this post! Me too.
Watching them grow, seeing them explore the world of ideas, talking with them, their insights. It's been wonderful.

That's exactly the way I've always felt about mine too Amy. I'm so pleased to read this post. I feel like so many parents are missing out on so much by not enjoying the "people" that their children are.

Me too, Amy. I feel exactly the same way. I'd much rather have my sons drop by than anyone else.
When they were little, other mothers used to tell me that older kids were a pain in the neck and teenager, they were the worst!
Well, I found the opposite with my boys. Every year they got better. Every year I looked at them and loved the way they were. I'm so proud of the people they became and I'm sure it has a lot to do with the fact that we always treated each other with respect.
