As a child, did you get an allowance?
Nope was never given one. My parents were pretty poor when I was growing up and there wasn't much money to go around.

Yes, I got 25 cents a week. I set the table every night & picked
up... did the dishes & helped with the laundry [hanging it out...folding...ironing]
Took care of my bedroom, cleaned the bathroom on week-ends...watched my little Brother.
I guess that's about it.

Nope. We did chores and were expected to help around the house. I always helped with dinner, dishes, cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, etc. We lived a ways out of town and my mom didn't drive, so no real need for any spending money when I was young. However, if we wanted to *earn* extra money we could do extra stuff. My favorite was to clean out the car. I could keep any change I found! I can distinctly remember asking for .10 for ice cream at school. Mom would ask dad, and he'd dig in his pants pockets...sometimes he had it, sometimes not. My parents struggled just keeping food on the table, but they did the best they could and we were well cared for. Now I know....we were poor.

Nope. At one point we were getting 25c for each basket of laundry we folded but that was short lived. Dad and Mom paid for youth group activities but most of them didn't require money.

No, not with money every week.. Instead we were allowed to play as many sports as we wanted or other school related activities that may require money spent... My parents would buy our athletic shoes, spending money for away games (dinner), be in drama, chourus, woodshop, or the Hi-Q teams, which all required some kind of money... If we wanted to go to a school dance, we would be given some money... Don't do your chores or what was expected of you and keep your grades up, then no sports or activities and no extra money spent.......

Nope. My parents didn't have much money. My mom later has told me that she should have given me an allowance. She realized too late that money was a good incentive for me.
