Post What's your family's dinner routine?

We eat most suppers at home. We always light candles (we leave the other lights on most of the time) and hold hands to say grace. Isabel has to try a tiny bit of everything but she can choose if she wants more of anything. She has to stay in her seat until Philip and I are finished. Philip usually reads us a short Bible story (if we remember!) and then Isabel & Ingrid have dessert, usually a small piece of candy.

We use cloth napkins and we don't normally have a tablecloth, though we do use woven placemats. We each clear our own dishes, except for Ingrid, of course.

We ALWAYS sit down at the dining room table for dinner, I put everything in serving dishes (no pans allowed at the table). We take turns discussing our day, with the youngest (dd) going first.

The kids get dinner at daycare which really saves on our grocery bill. Brian and I usually just eat leftovers from the weekend that usually last us all week.

I cook on the weekends and we have dinner by candlelight most nights. And it saves on electricity too.

I make dinner, and we are bad, we sit and eat it on our laps, watching TV most nights.

We say grace with the TV off, then flick it on, and enjoy the evening together.

I have it ready when George comes home at 4 pm usually as he likes to eat by about 4:15 to 4:30.

It's a lovely little ritual we both enjoy. He calls at lunch to find out what's for dinner, then he gets the smell and warmth and light of the home as he walks in the front door.

back when the kids were home we sat at the table like civilized beings, but now that it's just us, we are just ANIMALS!!!!

We all sit at the table together (sometimes with out dh because he often works late). DD gives thanks and when done they have to each take care of their own dishes. Generally I will serve up their plates in the kitchen so I don't have as much to clean up afterward.

Julia sets the table and we all sit at the table together. Julia clears when we're done, and I do the dishes while Rob gives the kids their baths. (Setting and clearing are two of Julia's chores on her chore chart.)

We have dinner at the table as a family. I usually get home from work at 5:30 and most nights have dinner ready by or before 6:30. One of my two daughters will say grace. We talk about our day while we eat. Everyone helps clean up the kitchen. It is one of my favorite times of the day.

We have one huge room thats our living room/dining room...living on one side, dining room on the other,so the tv is always on We talk, watch tv. Now if something is on tv I just gotta see,I'll sit in the recliner and eat.

Ashley clears the table and puts any leftovers away and does the dishes.

When he's on 2nd,we tend to eat whatever whenever. Usually I cook something during the day before he leaves and eat that again for dinner with the kids.
