Default Have you ever tried to...

    drag oxen backwards?

Get a few head of oxen, put leads and harnesses on them and try to pull them backwards. See how good that works for ya.

Now Imagine me...and the kids. THe kids are acting as headstrong and bull headed (no pun intended) as oxen today. They are being defiant, argumentitive, and all in all bratty today.

A chore that SHOULD take ds1 15 minutes has taken him FIVE TIMES that long. And it is one he loves. Vacuuming. If anyone else makes a reach for the vacuum, he begs to use it instead. He loves the thing. And it isnt just the vac, but evrything he's been doing today he's dragged out into hour long tasks.

DD too. She's been willfully disobeying me. "Pick up your shoes" I tell her. Five minutes later, shoes still there...tell her again...I hate to admit, but i have resorted to a swat on the butt. SHe has told me no when I have told her to do things today. i have tossed things she rufused to pick up...right in the trash.

DS2 is in a rotten mood today too!!

The kids made getting to one of my docs nearly the worst nightmare of a time ever today. The older two have had time outs, been spoken to by Daddy, had priv's taken away, etc etc, etc.

ACCCCCKkkk please tell me everyone has these days!!!!

Yes sister, I did. The memory is still fresh and scary even though they've been grown and gone since last summer.

Motherhood isn't for cowards as some wise person once said, and they said a mouthful.

Some days you are in charge, some days you are frantically trying to keep one step ahead of a wave of mayhem and kid energy.

I am not sure if you would want to try this but I used a point system with my kids. I had them make a wish list ie: rent a movie, have a friend over, simple frugal things. Then as they did their chores according to how well and fast they did them they got points. Each thing they chose I had a certain number of points assigned to it. Then they got the reward once they accumulated the points. There was always something they wanted so doing chores was never something I had a problem getting them to do. Not sure if you would be interested or not but it really worked with me and now my grandkids are doing the same "point" system.
