    Talking Shes a keeper

My 8 yr.old just about made me fall apart this morning.....

I just spent a week with her camping while she attended the Fiddling college during spring break (on full bursery) it was an amazing week.....well one of the things the organizers did was to set up busking venues for the participants. So she was assigned a time with 2 other 8 yearolds and after 1.5 hours they had earned $16 each!

My daughter was so excited that she went back (the other two had enough and didn't want to return) inbetween class and the concert and earned another $20 for 35 mins. playing.
Well I tell you, she was so happy with her "treasure" . So she has been discussing what she would do with her money ever since.

Well this morning she offered to take me grocery shopping! I just about turned into a puddle.

I told her she was the sweetest thing on earth but to please keep her money, maybe we might use it for an emergency....... but she was so pleased that she could actually help her family. Yup. She's a keeper.

congratulate yourself...you did well teaching her..i work hard , and if feels like im going against the grain and for a reason...to teach my kids about the family being a team..we ALL work differently to contribute..i was raised in a lets let kids be kids and have no responsibillity and i suffer for it today and even my mom admits to that being a mistake...a few chores, will no damage a child...and learning that the family as a whole make a home and what they do makes a difference....so good for you!!!and good for her to learn her lessons so well...

    I agree Celine.

But I can't take all the credit. Sometimes it is only life that can teach the lessons. I would never wish hardship on anybody....but it is great when you can actually see the silver linings.

My childrn havehad many oppotunities to feel sorry for themselves...being left out of activities because of cost.....being made fun of because they didn't have something everyone else had etc etc...... But I have tried hard to make them see the positive side when ever possible and am quick to point out even the small blessings and some of the GIANT ones when they come their way.

    The Attitude of Gratitude.

The Attitude of Gratitude says it all. You've done well by your family. Your daughters' generosity is a reflection of your teachings.

Like Jamee I got goose-bumps too.
