I received a call early this evening from my DS#1. I could tell it wasn't a good call by the sound of his voice. I asked what was wrong and he said he had just had a wreck. GREAT!!! Of course, I wanted to know if he was ok and where he was. Then, I ran and woke DH up and I headed over there to where he was and DH followed shortly after. (I wasn't waiting.) He slid into a telephone pole and hit the passenger side of the car which made it spin around and land with the front end down in the ditch into a fence. Almst all the windows shattered. The frame in bowed and the rear right-side passenger seatbelt borke lose. That is where the brunt of the collision happened. It has no front end and the axles are broke. Fluids were leaking. It looks like it is totalled. If it isn't, then they are going to be putting lots of money into the car. He did have 3 passengers, which thankfully everyone walked away.
The sad thing is, he only had this car for 3 months!! We put the down payment down on the car for him for graduation. I guess that was money tossed out the window.
I am glad we have full coverage insurance on the car. I have called State Farm to file a claim and will have to call them tomorrow or Wed. because of the holiday to get more info and find out when the adjuster will be out to see the car.
I am stressing over the situation right now cause I want it handled now! I know the car can be replaced, but my son and the other 3 boys can't. I say that there is a purpose in life for the to be here today.
I am looking forward to a much better tomorrow.

Thank Goodness everyone is OK. Sometime the greatest lessons in life are learned the hard way. Money most definitely is not everything. I will be thinking of you and your family.

I am so glad everyone is OK. I deal with car insurance claims all the time through my job. If things do not go smoothly, or you need any advice, please feel free to PM me -- I'd be glad to help if I can.
Since he has only had the car for 3 months, more than likely the company will give him full replacement value for it, although your rates will go up. Look through the packet given to you by the car dealership. Sometimes they give out a certificate that gives you a couple thousand dollars towards a replacement vehicle if your new one is wrecked or stolen. It is not something that you would notice right off the bat being excited about your new car but it may be in there. Also, call the salesperson that sold you the car if you had a good repoire. If you are buying 2 cars from him/her in 3 months, you will likely get a very good deal.
Best of luck, and you are in my thoughts.

I'm sorry this happened but glad everyone is ok. You must have been so scared Michelle. To be faced with a close call like that shakes you to your core. Big big hug.

Glad everyone is ok Michele. Just remember that you don't have to take the first offer the insurance company makes you on replacing the car. You do have some options.

: I'm so glad they are all ok. I've gotten those scary phone calls too. Sorry the car was so messed up and hopefully it will all be taken care of quickly.

Thank you. I talked to the insurance agent again this morning and he said everything should be taken care of. I had to call and get the car released to State Farm and I also need to call and let the finance company know that State Farm will be contacting them to get a payoff estimate if it is indeed totalled. He thought someone would be out to look at the car by Friday since this was a short week due to the 4th of July holiday being today.
So, hopefully by Friday I will know where we stand and where we need to go from there.
DS#1 woke up with a stiff knee and a sore neck and back. The agent said that if I take him in to fax the paperwork and it would be covered also. I am still worried about the passengers. He said the same for them too.

I am glad your son was ok too Holly. It sure is a scarey feeling when you get that call.
I ended up taking him to the dr. yesterday because his employer was worried about him. His neck and shoulder were bothering him. His back is tender also. They xrayed him and said it was jsut muscle spasms and gave him some muscle relaxers. I figured it that is what it was, but better to be safe than sorry later.
