How many of what clothing to buy for baby?
It feels like the first baby. LOL I am having a hard time remembering how much is enough of what types of clothing.
I know first time around, I bought too many outfits. They just weren't necessary. My little guy was in his sleep n plays and rompers more than anything.
It's just hard to guage how many of what. I'm looking for input.
Not necessarily totally frugal, but practical.
TIA,

I felt like I went through so many washcloths for the first month before her cord fell off..so as many of those as you would need till your next wash cycle would be good..(ok so it's not clothes but something we did use a lot)
And man those onesies got used up quickly too...I would say 15 or so would be good to have? I don't know seems like she'd soak one each feeding ..maybe 30 would be better !
And SOCKS lol..I never had enough of those..I think we had maybe 10 or 12 pairs of each size at a time, but I could always use more of those ..
I LOVED the footed sleepers..Couldn't have enough of those either..I would get several in different 'warmths' some for cold, cool, hot nights..I think having 14 in each size would be pratical in case they spit up on that one before they even fall asleep
and if you don't want to do laundry for a whole week you are set
But if you'll do laundry more often 7 would be a good number I think..

Sara, I loved the drawstring gowns for sleeping. When our third child was born, he spent more time in that out of them. I think I had 5 of them. I had 10 onesies, many socks, etc...
When dh and my parents asked what they could get for the baby, I said "DIAPERS" and when he arrived, I so many that I had to take some of the size 1 and exchange for size 2 - WHEN HE WAS FOUR MONTHS OLD!!!! That was a huge savings for us.
I had a few "going out in public" outfits in the 3 - 6 month size, but most were 6 - 9 months and up. When your little girl gets here the weather will be colder and she'll be bundled up anyway.

Onesies, onesies, onesies! My little Julia wore onesies all the time. She was born in February and I really didn't take her anywhere for awhile because we were having a very bad winter. So, it was just she and I in the house, and onesies it was. However, I wouldn't buy much (if any) newborn size stuff. We had gotten so much newborn size stuff from the shower, then she came and was 9 lbs 15 oz and didn't fit into ANY of it! Also, frugally speaking, diapers. Buy them now when they are on sale. Again, size 1, not newborn. You can always wrap a large diaper tighter, but you can't squeeze a big baby into a little diaper!

i'm in the same boat!
this is #3 for us and i just don't know what to get yet. i am almost to the 2nd trimester and only have one outfit that my sister-in-law bought for the baby. (actually it is a little sleeper, matching blanket, and matching bib) i know baby #2 has spent most of the time in onsies, t-shirts, or just diapers. it is just easier when we are around the house. if we go somewhere, i put an outfit on him, but at home.....it is just easier.
this baby was such a surprise...i guess that is why it just maybe hasn't soaked in yet. (maybe when i hear the heartbeat on the next appt. in 2 wks.
)
***after babbling on and on and on and on......i guess i would just have to say LOTS of onsies and LOTS of bibs!!!!
