Default 14 yr old ds had a lesson to learn!!

So my ds has a cell-phone. Its peace of mind for an extra $5 a month added onto our family plan. He's always been very good about it until this bill came in. *faint. I know I've heard much worse horror stories but we're allowed 400 mins a month and NEVER go over. He went 400 addl over that plan in one week talking to a >>>>>>>>>>>>>>eek girl! 3 hours one day, 2 hours the next -- you get the idea. My dh and I had no idea he ever even talked on his phone.

So needless to say -- he offered and spent nearly all his Xmas money to cover the phone bill. When its his money paying the bill he gets the picture now!

I hope he learned his lesson. Maybe now that he had to pay for his own bill, he will be more cautious of how he uses the phone.

My DS#1 was on our plan until he ran up our phone bill with text messages. We made him pay the bill and then took him off our plan.

I've heard far worse horror stories -- but sheesh it does make you faint for a minute!

I went throught the same thing with my oldest daughter. She did finally pay the bill. So, when my younger daugher wanted a cellphone--well, can you say prepaid? LOL

Wow. I also hope he learned his lesson. I'm sure he will think twice since he used his own money to pay the bill.

I'll bet he learned his lesson.

That reminds me of when we had our Japanese foreign exchange student living with us. He saw the MCI commercial that touted .10/minute. He called Japan and talked all night one night. The bill was $700. He did tell dd#2 before the bill came in and she made him confess to me. So when it came in, we marched down to the bank and cashed his cashiers' checks and paid the darn thing. He never did that again. The funny thing (in retrospect) is that we could hear his mother yelling at him over the phone....not on speaker phone mind you. Still cracks me up thinking of her shrill voice yelling in Japanese at him........
