Default Dh may have to have surgery....

About 10 weeks ago dh hurt himself while doing a military run. Had to take him to the E.R as the troop clinic was closed. They thought he strained his achilles tendon. Dr told him now duty etc for a few days. Took him to the troop clinic the next day as you have to and idiot doc there made him go back to duty right away. Anyway, long story short, he didnt heal and so the troop clinic sent him to a podiatrist. He had an MRI and his achillies tendon is torn. So now he has to go see an Ortho on the 20th. Please keep him in good thoughts. He is not a good patient and I know he will drive me batty if he has to have surgery but more importantly I hope that because they didnt find it at first it doesnt screw up his walking permantly.

I'm glad they found it when they did.

Dh did the same exact thing on a road march about 10 yrs ago. They did xrays (but no MRI) and put him in an air cast for two weeks. Over the next few years the ankle continued to bother him. He finally went on profile the last two years before retiring (which screwed him out of E-9). During his retirement physical, where they go over them with a fine tooth comb (ya know, like they should have all during their careers) they finally did an MRI on his ankle. Come to find out he tore two of the three tendons in his ankle and because they weren't repaired/reattached surgically, they are gone. Reabsorbed by his body and cannot be repaired now. He got squat in his disability for it too. Zero zip nada.

Sending lots of speedy healing vibes for your dh.

Im sorry to say this but its been our experience that the soldiers dont get great care when they are hurt. My dh hurt his back while doing an exersize and they gave him tylenol. When he got to an outside doctors we found out he had some serious issues that he will now have to live with. Something similiar happened to a friend. I hope that your dh doesnt have to have any surgery (men are such babies) but if he does I hope he is okay and has no lasting effects.

Hope he will be ok. It can be hard because men hate to go to the doctor anyway, and then they treat it like nothing. That makes me mad.
