DS#3 broke his arm
Last night he was jumping on the trampoline with DS#2. DH and I were both outside watching him because DH was BBQ'ing. We watched him and DS#2 get off and go into the house, but they never said a word about DS#3 being hurt. DS#2 told DS#3 to put some ice on it and then they still didn't tell us! They both thought they were going to be in trouble. DS#3 never cried or anything. I would have been bawling. LOL!
He ended up breaking both the radius and the ulna and goes back in 3 weeks to remove the cast and get new xrays. The break is more in his wrist where the growth plate is located.
No more swimming this summer! I know he will hate that!!! We were planning a trip to Schzlitterbahn Water Park in a few weeks. I guess we will put that on hold.~*Michelle*~

Sorry to hear that! maybe there's a way to go in spite of the cast. Perhaps the doctor would fit him with an air cast before then?
poor guy, i'd have been crying like a looney.~~ Missy ~~

Oh, that is terrible. I have a friend and her little granddaughter broke her arm. She has a cast on that she can swim in. Maybe your son can get one of those.

Oh poor guy! My daughter broke her arm in March and had one surgery and will have to have another. She has 2 pins, 1 rod, 1 plate, and 7 screws, so I know what you are going through. Anyway there is a cast they can swim in and also they make cast covers. I know they are kind of pricey but this time of year will be tough to stay out of the water so it might be worth it.

3 boys... don't know how you do it Michelle, I'd want to encase them all with bubble wrap. Hope that's it for the excitement this summer & that he heals quickly.

Poor guy
I hope he heals quickly.
When I was a kid, there were three summers in a row when my younger brother would break something and ruin our summer plans. First it was his leg, then his arm, then his other leg. We were ready to put him in a bubble!!

I always say that if it is going to happen to one of the boys that it will be him. He is the only one of all three who have had to have stitches numerous times in the head and above the eye. There was a time I was afraid to take him to the ER because I was scared they thought I was doing it so I always let him talk and tell them what happened. He is also the only one to have had any broken bones. He has also had his knee broken, but he did that at school.
Thank you for the link Angelee. I am going to look into the cast cover. I think that idea would be great. We asked about waterproof cast, but his dr. doesn't like to use them. UGH!~*Michelle*~

I broke lots of bones in my youth as a Tomboy. Here's a great tip.
The skin under the cast will be agonizingly itchy. Never ever ever put anything down under the cast to scratch it.
Instead, take your kid to a gas station. Use the air valve for tires to blow air down the space between the cast and the skin. Your baby will tell you the feeling is heavenly.

Thanks for the tip profnot! My FIL lives next door and has an air tank, so I may try that with his tank.

I'm so sorry! My son broke his elbow one year right before summer. We had planned a pool party for his birthday, and he put a plastic bag on his arm and sat on the steps of the pool with his arm hanging out. I felt so sorry for him.
Did you know that trampolines were named by the American Safety Council as the most dangerous backyard toy? You're lucky. Most kids break their collarbones or back, falling on the metal rim. A lot break their necks falling off. I wouldn't have a trampoline when my kids were young. They begged and begged, but I said no, and glad I did. They got hurt enough as it was!
