food for soon to be 1 year old
I'm finding it really hard to find food that's nutritious enough and that my almost 1 year dd can eat especially for lunch (she only has 2 teeth still - but another is starting to come in)....Dinner is not as hard, but lunch is tough. Usually I just have pb&j. The stuff they sell for toddlers is sooooo expensive and prolly not that good for them anyone. Any suggestions?

I can't say enough good things about the book Super Baby Foods by Ruth Yaron. It's WONDERFUL!! It gives month-by-month guides to what baby can eat. There are recipes for "super baby food" cereal that you make with whole, natural foods. There are recipes for healthy toddler and big kid food, too. The website has a few sample recipes and should give you an idea of what the book is like. Maybe your library has it, so you can see if you think it's worth buying for your family.

Bananas -- mashed or chunks
puree up some cottage cheese and use it as a spread on bread or toast
grilled cheese sandwiches
green beans (my kids thought they were finger food until they were almost in K)

My children also ate whatever we ate, and they are the world's best eaters now - neither is at all picky. I remember at that age they were really curious about anything I had in front of me, so I would just put a wee bit on the tray of their high chair and watch them go to town. Now is the perfect time to start your child on the road to enjoying food, before he/she gets it inot his/her head that something is yucky!

It's been awhile since my kids were that age, but I'm thinking yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, even leftover hot dishes minced up small.

thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
We do feed her quite a bit of what we eat..but sometimes when we have stuff that she can't eat it can be tough.. I sometimes have to make her something different.
Oh... a good bit of news - dd is no longer using a bottle .. yeah!! She really didn't care for it anyways. So now we just use sippy cups!
