Default i really need some opinions here

a school about 15-20 mins away from here has an opening for a teachers aide. my hubby has a friend on the teachers board that has called him 3 times wanting to know if i was going to apply, so it sounds promising. heres my delimma.

pros- same hours/days as my son
not too long of a drive
extra paycheck- my husbands workplace is really going downhill and everyone is suffering paycuts. i guess they're hoping to get rid of the ones that have been there for awhile, because why pay our guys $27-30 and hour when they can hire new guys at $13-15 an hour?

cons- the pay is HORRIBLE i made more working at walmart while going to college
my son would have to change schools after the school year has already started
ive been a stay at home mom for 5 1/2 years, thats a tough job to give up. i dont want my family's life that they're accustomed to, to change because i'm making a few extra dollars. my husband is use to me being here when he gets off work no matter what crazy hours he's working. we're use to just getting in the car and going somewhere on his days off, which of course i wont be able to do if i have a job.

    what would you do?

    Is the pay enough to
    1. Make enough profit after you pay for your gas and wear and tear on your car.
    2. Will it pay for the extra laundry you will have to do as you will have to dress nicer.
    3. Will you have to purchase new clothing?
    4. Will you have to pay for your lunch? Even if you bring your lunch you will have to purchase containers, baggies and such.
    5. Is it worth your time to sacrifice time with your family as you will have to do laundry, housework, and help with homework when you get home. Right now you probably have most of it done when your son get home.
    6. Is it worth it for your son to leave all of his friends and go to a new school for a little extra $$.

This is some of the things you have to decide if it is worth it.

I worked full time for a couple of year, just for my sanity and to get out of the house once my kids were all in school all day. It cost me more to work than I made, so I finally quit. The time spent at worked really robbed me in other areas. I spent so much more money on convenience foods, haircuts, treats/food to de-stress, Starbucks to get the morning jolt I needed to perform at the level I needed to, group lunches, office birthday gifts, etc. It seemed never ending. Also, I found I was too tired to shop the sales and it was easier to just stop on the way home and pick up some needed items. I quit with my frugal efforts because it took too much time. I finally quit because it just wasn't worth it.

Solid list of both pros and cons. Here's my question...do you want this job? As a teacher, I can tell you that there is no more rewarding job in the career world, so there is that, as well. If you want it, then your pros seem strong. If you don't, then your cons seem strong. In the end, what will make you the happiest?

well i broke it down money wise and by the time i take out taxes and gas every week, i'd be bringing home $140 a week, or 560 a month. IF i spend that money on gas only. (and you know that wont happen) id be giving up class parties, field trips and family time for less then $140 a week. not worth it to me.
