SAHM:Working moms
Do you think there are more SAHM's or working moms? I know online it seems SAHM's are the majority, but do you think in actuality more moms work because of the economy and/or choice?
Just curious opinions.

Around here it is SAHM's. Mostly because this is a very large military community and a lot of people are on sea duty and someone has to stay behind to care for the children. I am a SAHM and I love it but I miss working too.

I beleive statistics will show that most mothers work at least part time outside the home. My DH and I have always worked opposite shifts so that one parent could be at home for our daughter (now age six). Even though she is in school full time now, there are still school holidays and sick days, etc. It is nice having no day care worries, and knowing that she is in good hands always.

I'd say more working moms because things are so much more expensive and it's harder to get ahead monetarily than say the 50's when SAHM were the majority. Plus I think most women like having the freedom of going to work to make them more independant, so they're not dependant on their husbands and their checks.
