What Name Do You Use For Your Parents?
I call my folks Mom and Dad. My mom called her parents Mother and Daddy. My dad called his parents Momma and Dad.
I've known people who called their parents Ma and Pa, or Mama and Papa, or Mommy and Daddy. Some call their parents by their first names.
I always called my grandparents Grandma and Grandpa. But where I live now, it seems to be very common for the grandparents to be called Nana and Papa.
Just wondering........... What do you call your parents? Grandparents? Any family traditions on that? Are some names more cultural or regionally oriented?
On a slightly different note....... It's tradition in my family to call the daughters of the family "Sis" and the boys were called "Bub". (We all had real first and middle names, but in the family we were called Sis and Bub). My son carried this on and calls my granddaughter "Sissy" and the boys are called "Bubby."Last edited by forHISglory; 04-16-2008 at 11:04 PM. Reason: wrong word

For my family I use Momma and I called my step-father Dad (he died 6 years ago) I called my grandparents on Momma's side Ninny and Poppa.
I was forced to call my step-grandparents Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw. (they were two of the most hateful people I've ever had the misfortune to know...calling them anything galled me)
For my first set of in-laws it was Momma (last name) and Pappy.
I call my current MIL Mrs. (last name), she's never asked to be called anything else. I called DH's dad Mr. (last name), he died over a year ago. They evidently prefer the formal.
My first husband called my parents Mr and Mrs. (last name) for 17 years despite their asking him to be less formal.
DH calls my mother Momma. He calls his own mother Mom. My Dad died before DH ever met me.
I look forward to seeing other answers, great question!

My kids call us Mama and Daddy.
I call my parents Mom and Dad (or sometimes Daddy-o... it used to bug him, and now it's become a pet name). DH's parents died before I ever met them.
I called my maternal grandparents Nana and Papa, and my paternal grandmother Gram. My paternal grandfather died before I was born. I was fortunate enough that the three grandparents I had known were all still living until about 5 years ago.
So, when it came time for my mom to choose what my kids would call her, the names Nana and Gram were already taken. So she chose Nonnie. I thought Grandma would have been nice, but she said that "Grandma" was for old ladies. She thought Nonnie sounded "younger".
LOL. Anyway, my dad couldn't care less about that kind of thing, so he got stuck with Grandpa.

I call my parents Mom & Dad. Sometimes I call my dad "pop" and my mom "moms" as sort of their cutesy nicknames from me.
My kids call them Mimi & Papa. I used to call my grandmother and grandfather the same, so there is some tradition there.
Kathryn & Lauren still call us Mommy (pronounced "Mummy") & Daddy, though Kathryn will usually cal me Mom around her friends

Talked to a friend about this and she reminded me of the people who call the grandparents "Mee-Maw" and "Pee-Paw."
My grandma went by "GG" to her great grandkids. When they were little they couldn't quite get their tongues wrapped around "Great Grandma", so they just resorted to "GG". She loved it! When some people heard it, they thought her name was actually Gigi!Spiritual:
