AAARRRGHHH! Last night, the Harlem Wizards were in town (similar to the Globetrotters) to play the local high school. We purchased three tickets in advance for dh, ds1, and ds2. We only purchased three because usually I work on Wednesday nights (we purchased them over one month ago). As it turned out, I didn't have to work last night and could have bought a ticket at the door for approx $20. I told the boys to go on without me--I have a birthday party to plan for this weekend and I thought it would be fun for them to have a boys night out.
Well, wouldn't you know it, ds2 got picked out of the audience for the half-time show--some little catching competition and he won! They came home and told me all about it and dh thought it was so funny to see these basketball players who are 6'6" next to ds (he just turned 5 so therefore is much shorter). I felt so bad that I missed it.
This morning I walked ds #1 to the bus stop and all the kids were telling me about ds#2 and how great it was that he was out on the court, etc. Obviously, I'm happy for ds that he had that fun opportunity, but I'm TOTALLY bummed that I missed it.
Have any of you ever missed anything and kicked yourself afterwards?

Well there is no way you could have know , sorry you missed it.
Think if it this way, at least your dh has a memory that's all his own. I know that it bothers my dh that he isn't always around to see these things so when he is I am glad he was there. KWIM?
You're right, Ann. DH rarely gets any moments that are all his own. Thanks for cheering me up.

Just think of all the special this and first thats your dh missed, don't see this as your failure, see it as his bonus. It's father son bonding at it's finest!
