Goodbye Paycheck
Hello, all. We're having a rough go of it, and I just felt like I had to spill it somewhere. Thanks for having this forum.
The background: My DH was injured on the job almost a year ago (6/14). He's been on comp since then ... got screwed around by his comp carrier and their doctors ... and finally had surgery to correct the problem caused by the accident and the neglectful physicians.
The now: His comp carrier has decided they're done with him, even though he can't return to work (per physician and PT orders). He still wears a full length lockable brace and walks with a cane. There's no way he can push a clutch over and over right now, which is part of his regular job. So, no more paychecks from the comp carrier, which we're of course fighting. I work part time with no chance of more hours and make absolute minimum wage, which puts us short of our tiny $1500 a month budget by nearly a 1/3. It's miserable feeling right now.
I just needed to vent. Thanks.

Mandi,
So sorry to hear about your troubles......
Have you thought about trying to get a pro bono lawyer, or one that will wave their fees until you get a settlement????
Take care of yourself.
Kind Regards,
leezza

Yes, we're meeting with the attorney on Tuesday. We've been aware of this possibility since he started this adventure, but there just hasn't been much we could cut/save in anticipation unfortunately. I'm pretty positive we have one of the best lawyers in this state. I just hate the super tight spot we'll be in during the interim.

That's terrible and I wish you luck in fighting them. Is there a possibility of filing for disability? Is there anywhere in your community you could seek aid to help with the bills?
I hope things look brighter for you soon.

I haven't been on this forum long but from reading there are a bunch of little things you can start doing to cut costs.
Yes they are minor and maybe only pennies in savings but it will add up.
unplug anything and everything you can... clocks, coffee pots, microwave oven..etc. They only draw a tiny amount, but they do add up.
read through the forums, there are a lot of tips!!Russ

I'm sorry your having to deal with this. We went thru and are going thru similar issues. My DH was hurt on the job 4 years ago and was out of work over a year. When he did go back, after losing 25% of his mobility, they 'let him go'. Now we're having to deal with him being diagnosed with MS. The short term disability people are giving us a fight too. Its so fustrating.
This is a good place to vent and get ideas to help 'see the light'. Here if you ever need to talk.

First, I am so sorry that you are going thru such a stressful time. Hugs and prayers being sent your way. A lawyer is defintely what you need, comp laws etc. can be so complicated so you defintely need someone who will fight for you. Good luck. and try to take one day at a time.
taking one day at a time, trying to get rid of debt!!
