    Default Paying the gas bill question

    So my gas bill says that payment is due before June 18 or it will be shut off. I made the payment over the phone on the auto, sys a couple hours ago and got a confirmation #, however there is no live person there after 8 pm that I can talk to to confirm this. Do you think it will be ok? I mean the bill was paid before the 18th and I got a # confirming this. The live people come on at 8am so I will call then but I am kinda freaking out. Any experience with a similar situation? Thanks

    Well, I don't have any experience in it, but I'd be shocked if they went ahead and shut it off. Since they have an automated system, they probably give you till midnight to pay it and wouldn't start the shut off until the 19th.

    The only reason they'd shut it off imo is a huge error in their automated system. I'd go ahead and call them tomorrow if you're worried about it, but you should be ok.

    Yes, definitely call. I worked at a gas company and the one system we had where people sent checks to the lockbox (a bank that takes the checks and processes them) sometimes took a while to go through. I think it depended when they posted the payments. They were definitely not on their immediately.

    Call them as soon as they open.

    I think you should be fine but give them a call in the morning and be prepared to give them your confirmation # as well, this is proof of payment which was made BEFORE the 18th. Let us know how things go

    Sounds like it'll be just fine...but I agree with the others - I'd call just to make sure...can't hurt, right? And it'll give you peace of mind.

    i think you should be fine also, however, my db just payed his cc payment on line called to make sure it went thru and he got it taken out again. be careful
