apparently there's something here that makes people risk their lives to get to it ~ if you can do it legally, come on over -
I agree with purple though, we are all individuals, with different experiences - what may work for one, may not work for another - it all comes down to what you want out of life -Don't Breed or Buy While Shelter Pets Die

Thanks so much
Thank you guys so much for your input it has been invaluable, we have decided to come for christmas with the inlaws for 6 weeks in colorado and see what we think whilst we look around we have been before but not for that long, I love America, Aus is great but really kind of boring compared to America I love the choice and diversity offered there. We will also see how we handle the cold weather last time we came for a visit we got stuck in a shopping mall overnight in a blizzard the kids had a great story to tell since it was on the local news! anyway thanks again and god bless

It is all relative I suppose we are a huge country and things are different everywhere.
Yes gas is through the roof right now.... but at $3.80 a gallon we are paying far less than the rest of the world.
yes there ore way too many forclosures on houses righ now but it is not really because of the economy in most cases.. People bought houses that were far more house than they needed and far more expensive than they could afford and used loan with baloon payments or adgustable rate mortages... AND even bought thinking the house would appreciate $20,000 a year or more.
my house would probably be worth 90,000 but say California it would cost maybe $700,000 now how stupid is that..
Health care is a concern if you have a job that does not have health ins.Meg
cc debt free YEAH on to the mortage

I think your 6 week visit sounds like a great idea.
Also -- have you or your DH thought of looking at the Denver area transport type jobs on Monster.com and a few other sites? Might give you an idea of what jobs are out there at this time.
Also - try out Salary.com -- you can get a reasonable idea of what the salary range is for his type of work in the region of the US you want (in your case, Denver).
I wish you the best -- at some point you will all know what the right decision is for you and your family.Jen
