    Unhappy Down to last $150

And it only gets worse. Hubby went out on disablity on July 1st for knee surgery. The doc said all the paper work was done so we have been expecting a disablity check any day now. Well we had the accountant from his job call and see what is going on and it turns out the doc didn't send the paper work in till the 12th. So his check will be sent out on the 29th.

Well on the 27th we are leaveinng on a trip to NJ. As of yesterday family pulled together and will be paying for our gas so not too worried there. Today we borrowed $150 from my Dad to pay our phone and get gas in the car and 2hrs later we blew out a tire. So my dad gave us his car to drive till Monday and checked out the rest of the tires and surprise surpise they are all on the verge of blowing out.(They are 2 yrs old) My Dad is thinking they are rubbing against something causeing them to wear out so fast. I know it is horrible but the car is constantly needing work and it is a pick and choose game. So while looking at the tires he was under the car and noticed the muffler is almost rusted through, the shocks look worn, same with the breaks, plus we have an oil leak( this we are aware of and have been waiting for the money to fix)

So now I have car repairs to take care of and no money. We would cancel the trip but everyone in NJ has taken time off and they are covering the cost of gas so it is not really costing us anything.

Plus we are moving into a new apartment In August and since it is from my hubby's boss we are responsible for cleaning this apartment and painting it so they can transfer the security to the new apartment. They are covering the cost of paint but not the steam cleaner( 3 kids light beige carpet ugh)

I thought I was soooooo set for hubby's knee surgery even put some extra in our emergency fund but no its all gone and at least 2 weeks before we get any income in.

I`m so sorry this is happening to you. Take your trip enjoy.
Have dad pick the check up or have the post office hold it.
maybe your dad can do some of the work on your car,or a friend.
If you need food go to a church they usually have a pantry.
the places you don`t have money to pay a bill call and let them know you`ll be getting the money soon.
hang in there it will get better.

Sorry this is happening to you. I know it's tough having no income. My husband has been unemployed for two months now, so two months of no pay. We only had $800 established in our emergency fund, and it's gone. We have $30 left to our name and he still doesn't have a job. And, when he finally DOES get one, it will be two weeks before he gets paid.

Isn't it stressful having no money?

Hugs going out to you. Do you have a friend who can help y'all work on the car? I'm sorry you are going through this.

I'm sorry as well. Take small comfort in knowing that many of us have been there and you WILL get out of it. Look ahead and keep your eyes on the bigger picture! Many hugs to you!

You know the money is coming...and this is temporary. Call the companies and ask them to defer any payments you can until after the check will clear. Rely on a food bank...have a yard sale?? Anything you can to make a few bucks. And above all enjoy your trip to see family!!

I am so mad about this.. I had a HUGE response (you know me ) but I lost it.. some glitch thing.

Anyway it's on the lines of ..
Did you learn anything and what could you have done that could prevent this from happening?

Perhaps FV'rs can offer suggestions on how to prevent this chaos from happening.

I'll wait and see if you can come up with the obvious lessons learned here so that others can learn too.

    And...

    I recall also saying....
When you go to NJ be sure the car is in good working order. I hear Murphy wanted to come along for the ride. Consider yourself warned.

    Grrrr.

Well some good news we may have 2 tires for the car. They are from an old car of ours and is a little wide for the Escort but hopefully it will buy us a few weeks.Luckly I did my grocery shopping on the 11th and I should be ok on food with us going on vacation.

with the car my Dad is taking it too his mechanic to get the tires but on and I know it sounds awful but I hope the mechanic lays a quilt trip on mmy dad and he gives us another used car and allow us to make payments on it. The car we have my Dad gave to us 3 yrs ago so maybe he will do it again.

With the move we needed a new bed for our daughter and today we went to a yard sale of friends of ours and they gave us a bunk bed from the prision for free. It is like 50 yrs old, wooden and needs some work but hey it was free and took care of one stress.

Now fingers crossed that things keep flowing.

Our car is a local car only never drives more then 45 minutes from the house

Sorry that the disability is taking so long. I know when DH went out in April, it was May before his short-term disability started paying out. Since then he's been terminated from his job and now we've been 3 weeks with no income waiting to hear from Social Security. No one seems to be in any hurry.

Hope you have a good time on your trip and things look better when you get back.

    take care,
    Debbie in Missouri
