Down to the last
strech. Some of you may have remembered that I aplied for SSD almost 2 years ago. Well I had to get a lawyer. I just had a meeting with my lawyer and I go before the Judge Oct 1 2008. My lawyer showed my all the infomation the SSI people were going on. They only had 11/2 inches of my medical records. She then showed me all that they have gotten about 8 inches. No wonder they say no one is disabled. I have to show the judge that I have a dr's order for the cane other wise he won't let me use it....... So I will see my Dr on the20th and get what ever else I can get from them. I sure do hope i get it that way my kids can stop helpping me.....
FernYes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

There was just a huge write up in the Atlanta Journal Constitution about SSD and the fact that Atlanta SS offices are more than 2 years behind in processing claims. So much so, that they hired several new judges to handle the backlog. Google the AJC and read the article. It was very interesting.

Hoping for the best when you get to court in Oct. I have a friend that had to go to court also. She got her SSD.

I hope you're able to get the SSD soon. I know it must be a very frustrating process. Good luck!

My mother had to go through the whole lawyer/court system to receive her SSD too. Actually, my aunt that works in the department told her that it is extremely rare for anyone to ever get it without hiring a lawyer and going to court.
Keep your chin up and good luck!

Ferny, bless your heart. I didn't realize you needed a cane now. I'm so sorry that things have been so difficult for you. I am sending lots of good thoughts for you and praying that you get approved on Oct. 1. God bless and keep thinking positive thoughts. Carolyn
