Talking I'm giving myself a cautious pat on the back!

Ok, so some of you will remember a few months ago when I was panicking about my mortgage.
I got 3 months behind, bills were getting past due. I had no clue where most of my money was going and really couldn't account for anything.
Well, last week I had a major panic/anxiety attack when my SIL came to visit me and I lost it. She looked at my bills and helped me start a plan...
I called the mortgage company and they are doing a 'loan modification'...
They told me to pay $40 more than my monthly mortgage for 3 months... After the 3 months the loan goes into review... I don't pay mortgage for January or February. At the beginning of March they will give me one of 2 options... 1) pay the $5700 that is behind or 2) they'll put it on the back of the loan..
I am very happy with this! I am very relieved.
As for the bills, I am current on everything now.
I went yesterday and opened a separate savings and set it up so $400 a week gets taken from me checking account and deposited into my savings. (They are not linked-just the same bank so they can do that)
The $400 a week will cover my mortgage and give me an extra $126 at the end of every month. This will eventually be my EF...
The other bills come out of the $$ that stays in my checking account.
    Bills now come FIRST...
My car is paid off (just paid this off the first week of Sept) so keeping up will be a breeze now!
I am so happy, my stress and anxiety is gone!
I am on the golden path and feel great!
I still have old bills that are sitting in collection but they can sit a while longer. Once I am in a routine with all of this and there is extra money I will pay them off one by one... In about 2 years I should be debt free except for the mortgage...
My life is changing! My life is finally becoming the way it should. I feel great!
Thanks for reading... I'm just so proud of myself.
I feel like I could yell from the rooftop!

congratulations! A sit down, take a look at, and develop a plan is one of the most difficult things to do. Somehow, it hits an emotional chord and connects it to the brain. You now have a plan of action that is proactive in how you live for your future!

You can be very proud of yourself.

Thankyou! I feel great! I just called about a medical bill for DH that seemed to high, after they explained it to me I made a payment arrangement for $25 a month. God, it feels good to know where my money is going and what I'll have left at the endof the month!
I don't feel the urge to go nose around a store to buy, buy, buy things I think I'll need or could use.. I think they call that 'depressed shopping'! I'm content with what I have and have actually been cleaning out stuff!
It's weird, the better I feel the more my house comes together without buying new stuff!
I have been reorganizing and repurposing today. If I don't need it, I'm freecycling it!
I need to get started on making a pair of warm pj's for DS.. it's my first attempt so it should be interesting! lol

I bet that feels great! It goes to show you that no matter how bleak things look, there is always HOPE. Within a short amount of time, with simply a phone call and the encouragement of a sister you have turned things around- a complete 180! Amazing!

    Congratulations!

That is definitely back-pat worthy. Give your SIL one while you are at it, for helping you get back on track, as well!!
