Yay! Electric usage down!
Ok, on the 19th around 1pm or so I read my electric meter and figured I had a daily average use of about 34+ kwh. I went out and read it again and at first I was disappointed. I thought I had averaged 35-37kwh since then. But then I realized that I had used 75 kwh in THREE days, not TWO. So for the last 3 days my usage has averaged 25 kwh! YAY!
Granted, it's easy to go 3 days without doing much laundry and dishes, and some days are heavier on the electricity than others. But I am still happy! It was my goal to reduce the daily average and I am off to a good start! My main goal is to keep from reaching the 4th tier on my bill this month- they read my meter on Wednesday. I don't think I'll be able to do that though, in all honesty. I'd have to use only 25 kwh for the next 2 days combined. Of course, I'm not sure what time they come to read the meter and it will help if it's first thing in the morning. But for now I will keep turning off my power strips and washing dishes by hand. =)

I'm so encouraged, I just had to share!

Very good indeed!
Hmm...you know - its true, reading changes you. I've been reading (well, listening to) Nicholas Nickelby, on my commute, and after each trip, I find that I speak to people with a Classical English turn of phrase for about an hour and a half afterwords...If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I a so darn mad at my electric company I could just spit! I have been able to reduce my electric bill just in time for them to tack on an additional $37 for the first 1000KW. I feel I am working back words!

Great job, keep doing the work and you'll see a major difference. I am kind of a fanantic when it comes to checking my meter. I always check it when the kids get on and off the bus!

Thats awesome! I read through the entire first thread and you are making good strides! In fact all the electric usage posts made me get up and examine my kitchen, therefore unplugging the coffee pot, the can opener, the toaster and the camera charger!!!!!!!
Inspiring!
