Unhappy my husband was just given notice

They're going to let him go at the end of the month. At least they let him know, so we could prepare for it.

I'm not worried about food, heck we have enough in the freezer to see us through 4 months easily with no meat purchases. But after having to get the car fixed in August AND September, our emergency cash fund is low. And I have to go for medical exams and annual tests this month and next, and we have no insurance and pay for it all ourselves.

Sigh. We'll manage, for a while. Most of our debt is paid down, so we don't have huge bills, but the lack of incoming cash will start to hurt if he can't find work by January.

And I don't even want to think about what his ex is going to do, she always goes berserk when he is laid off and the child support stops coming.

I am sorry and hope your DH finds a job soon.... as for the ex-wife... she has to understand that he is out of work and he needs to go to the domestic relations office and let them know.

Will he be getting unemployment? If so, they scratch going to the domestic relations office, they wont care as long as there is money coming in.

Big Hugs! You will make it and thank goodness for your stockpile.

I wish you the best of luck, all this lay off talk creeps me out. My hubby has been working around 30 to 35 hrs which doesn't make me feel good.At least you have some sort of warning so you can stop the bleeding fast.

So sorry that he was laid off. That is nice that they gave you a little bit of notice, though.

DH got laid off last winter and it turned out to be the best thing for our family. We went from a crappy job that just barely paid the bills and had no benefits, to a wonderful job where he is appreciated, is paid double what he made before and we now have insurance!

So I wish you guys the best of luck and hopefully your lay-off will have a silver lining like ours did! Maybe things will all work out for the best!
