    Default It's happened

My worst fears have come to life... My dh has been hit by a layoff.
No notice , no nothing. One weeks pay. We have exactly 2,000 dollars in the bank and nothing coming in. Good God , what is going to happen? I pray he finds work fast. IN truth we can't even afford to miss a weeks pay. Thank goodness my little side business is bringing in a little. I made 140.00 this week. Thats food and gas at least. I'm going to reopen my etsy shop. I will also talk to the shop owner about letting me work some extra days in the shop. I work on Saturdays for cash but that's just enough to cover the rent in my space.
It was exactly one year ago this month that he got layed off last time. Fortunately he found work right away. Thank God he is getting his education so he can get out of this industry.

Oh Ann....I'm so sorry. Sending :bighug:s and lots of positive I hope he finds work soon. I know Florida is a rough place to find work right now. My MIL has had to do the job search thing multiple times in the last couple of years. She had been very fortunate to find work each time rather quickly. Hope your DH is as fortunate. Also, I know it's not his line but has he ever thought about applying for the maintenance/janitorial staff at the schools. With his background he could probably not start at the bottom and the school system doesn't lay off.

    I'm so sorry, Ann.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Lots of good thoughts going out your way. At least you've got a few good ideas up your sleeve to keep some cash coming in.
I know its not alot but have DH go down to the local labor pool and sign up that way on the dys when he's not interviewing he'll be doing something. I know its not alot but sometimes it works into full time things. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
At least us here in Florida don't have to worry about heating oil for the winter.

Good luck to you guys! We went through this last winter, so I know how frightening it is. We lucked out last year and DH's lay off turned out to be the best thing for us, with DH getting a much better job becuase of it. So, I will keep good thoughts going your way, that your silver lining shows up soon!
