Savings-what savings??
I am so stressed. Dh and I had to wipe out our small amount of savings just to survive this month. We had a couple of unexpected expenses that really threw us for a loop. Now, I can't sleep at night just thinking that we have no cushion if something else were to happen.
I am not crazy enough to think that things couldn't be much worse. We have a roof over our heads, food to eat, and all that but I just hate to have to worry about all of the possibilities.
Is anyone else in our boat- surviving but by the tiniest thread??? If you have been in the situation, please tell me that it can get better.
Sorry to be a whiny butt tonight- just worried sick!!
Hugs,
Stacye

You are allowed the occasional drama moment and my bff would say, then it's time to focus again. It will get better, and as you say the blessings are there. You do have a roof over you and food in the kitchen. I have been in your shoes and I totally understand where you are at right now. We were at a point a few years ago, where we had to decide between groceries and the rent, and then groceries and an utility bill. Nothing worse than that. My friend came over and she actually went through the couch cushions, car and then every old pocket book I owned and came up with a grand total of $2.34. She handed it to me and said "here you go, you have savings again." It was stupid, but it was enough to help me refocus on starting over. We went over my budget and found another $5.00 I could put back a week. I didn't think that would ever grow into something but it did. Just like your little siggy says....slow and steady. Just hang in there and know that you have friends in your corner. Thoughts and prayers, Terri
Please know that when I say drama moment, well, that is just what my friend calls my worry moments....I tend to have about once a week (subjects of such drama moments will vary, due to current situation....she says I am a drama queen)Last edited by khjmom; 10-29-2008 at 06:55 PM.

ok, I totally do understand !! Can you somehow gather some money together, such as take a part time job, baby sit or cook meals for someone or walk dogs on the side, etc? Do you have any back up plans that you can think of, such as cashing in savings bonds or getting people who owe you money to pay you back?
I had to take on 2 part time jobs this summer on top of my full time job and I'm still sinking each month. Sometimes I scrape together the mortgage pmt at the last minute. It is so scary !!
Can you sell anything on EBAY? Start thinking about what you can do to gather up some emergency cash.
Tighten your belt if you haven't already and start cancelling extras. No eating out, no lattes, no getting hair / nails done, etc. if you are doing that now.
Just my 2 cents ... I totally feel your pain.

Its at moments like this that I think about a saying I once read about being overwhelmed with debt - "Right now I am alright.". As you pointed out you do have a roof over your head and food on the table so right now you ARE alright. Tomorrow could bring another problem but RIGHT NOW you ARE alright.

The thing to remember is that things are seldom as good as you think or as bad as you think. I wish you the best. We have been where you are now and you will be stronger for it since adversity builds character. My grandmother used to say "hard times don't last but hard people do".

Dh and I have a saying we throw at each other from time to time: 'We're out of money, guess we'll have to go make some more!' It's a lighthearted way of saying tomorrow's another day, we'll go to work and start again!
Remember this is just a moment in time - you'll get money saved again and sleep better.
And my favorite saying to my dh who is the world's worst worrywart: 'Don't fret!'

I'm sorry you are going through this, I too know what it is like we are facing a few months of extremely tight on funding. I just always tell myself it could be worse, I know it sounds silly, but it could be. And I always tell God thank you for what I do have. Can you have a yardsale, sell on ebay , craigslist or something. I will feed neighbors pets for $10/a day to make extra money. Something else you can do with it being fall mulch peoples flower beds and trees I have made good money doing this along with planting flower beds it its hard work, but you would be surprised how much "busy" people will pay for this. You could have your savings built back up in no time. That is what I am doing right now along with selling stuff and decluttering my home. Good luck You will make it. And remember What my Mom-Mom Cleora always said " Your allowed to sit on the pity potty but its up to you how long you sit" her way of saying drama is allowed. I'll send good wishes your way
