THat is pretty funny! I believe it depends on where you are. I think I just heard the other day that the Detriot, Michigan areas unemployment rate was 22%...but who knows which calculation they used on that one! :bang:
Yep, living in a small rural town full of factory commuters and construction workers we have seen people out of work for so long that they are no longer counted in the statistics, yet there are NO jobs to be found in the area and moving is out of the question economically. But they don't count.
I wish I could see how they actually do the various calculations... Cause it seems like a lot more people are out of work than the government claims... Wonder how close the OP is to "accurate"??
Wow! I've known that the way the gov't. plays with the numbers is misleading (also the GDP, among other ###s) but the way this is laid out is really cool.... makes it very easy to understand. I may be forwarding this one to a few friends....
Just another note. Those of us who were self-employed in the construction industry don't get counted either. We also can not file for unemployment. We're screwed regardless.
