We just got a letter from Nationwide Insurance today cancelling our house insurance. Non Renewable policy. We have them for house and car. A couple months ago they raised our car insurance stating "after reviewing your credit report". I have been with them for 36 years, hubby for 20. No late payments, have even a couple times by yearly.
At some point apparently someone was out here and nosed around with us not here.
Their excuse for cancelling...
Shed has siding problems. This shed is about 2 1/2 years old with house roof and shingles, house siding to match house. Windows, air conditioner and double doors. Cost $3600. NOTHING wrong with it. Nothing.
Above ground pool with no fence around it. The county does not require a fence for an above ground pool is pool is 52 inches or higher. Pool is 52 inches. This was checked before buying 5 years ago.
Debris in yard.. Only thing this could be is a pile of lumber off to the side, away from the house almost on the lot line of a double lot.
They are giving us 90 days to "fix" the problems or we will be cancelled as of May 2010. I can call the agent ( you bet your ass I will ) and talk to her to find out what to do ( to which they already wrote I will have to contact the reporting agency to .......to do what...there is nothing wrong with the property.
REAL reason they are cancelling....because they want us gone from their responsibility. They see us as a credit risk because they have pulled a credit report. They see where we were late with 2 house payments ( April and March, caught up in June ) late with credit cards ( back on track now ) and they don't want us anymore. I'm surprised they didn't cancel the car insurance. Bet they don't renew it when policy comes due again....April I believe.
I hate these people more and more and more everyday. I can call them until I'm blue in the face and it isn't going to change anything. It's already been decided. And the bad part is because of the credit report no one else is going to take the house as insurable because of that. If I could find someone the cost would be so outrageous we couldn't pay it. It is already close to $1500 a year. The car insurance alone went up $50 a month. Imagine what a $287,000 house would be with high risk insurance...
Yeah I know. No it is not worth $287,000 wasn't even when Countrywide appraised it. Long story and anyone who has read alot of my posts knows alot of the story.
These companies deserve everything they get and I don't feel I owe them anything. I've about had it.
