Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted anything I've lurked a bit but just haven't felt up to it. Everything seemed do be going good I was back together with my dds dad, saving money to go to school. Then in there was an accident and dds dad didnt make it. My entire life was turned upside down. I had to leave my work, there was no will, life insurance and I was/am dealing with my emotions and dds. It's been a few months and I'm trying to get back into some sort of routine. I'm still not working full time just on call shifts till April. I'm planning to go back to school in October/November. My emergency fund has taken a major hit, I've been stress shopping, eating out and running up my credit card. Once I start back to work my income will have taken a major hit (almost 1/2 of what I made before even more in the summer) I'm looking for advice on how and where to start. I did a new budget but it's stressing me out with my income being so low, but I don't have much of a choice if I want to go to school. I feel like I cant try and have a stable life when my financial situation is so out of control. Any advice, tips, even motivation would be appreciated.
one day at a time... baby steps ... try not to let it overwhelm you and dont compare yourself to others.
i know sometimes when i am having financial issues and a bad month that i feel like i am failing when i come here and read some have paid off last CC etc
but i decided i need to let than inspire me.
dont beat yourself up for past mistakes - take it as a lesson and start fresh .
are you making enough to cover your bills ?
is your daughter eligble for any type of social security benefits due to her fathers passing .
Hugs to you. Stress can really push our limits to extremes. You will regain your stability a little at a time and getting back into a routine of school will help.
Is there perhaps something you can put some time and energy into till school starts back up? Volunteering or scheduling meetings with friends for walking or doing something no cost/low cost?
Could you cut back on school a bit to work more, to boost that income? Going PT, with less hours in school at once may take longer to finish up, but worth it if you can get more hours in making $ to support you and dds. Have you considered counseling for you, and her? I am so sorry this has happened to you guys!
Sorry for your loss. That is a lot to deal with and I guess I'd second cutting back on school. I know I wouldn't do well studying with as much stress and grief as you're dealing with now.
I agree with applying for Social Security for your dd's. Were you married to their father when they were born? If not, you might have some difficulties even if his name is on their birth certificates, but I think in the end it would be worth the difficulties.
