SO, things were going ok on Wednesday...but by Friday, BOTH of our cars are dead and will not start; not even turn over. It's not the batteries, because there is power to the radio and lights. BOTH cars have this same problem! Is it contagious or what? I had the Taurus checked out, and it's the Neutral safety switch, which a friend is supposed to be looking at today. Yesterday when the van did the same thing, I about choked. Cross your fingers that my friend can help me out...the part is $30, so I could save a bundle on that...just hope the van is easy to figure out!
You know, this always happens to us too. One car goes, and then the other one seems to get jealous of the attention the other car is getting. So, it breaks too.
One day, my van broke down on the way to work. I called my mechanic, and he said to bring it in. Over lunch, I drove it back to my neighborhood mechanic and then walked home and got my husband's car to go back to work. On the way to work, my husband's car started overheating. I had to turn around and take it back to the mechanic's too.
My husband's car used to be my car before I got the van. I swear that it just gets miffed at me for giving it up and so breaks down just to teach me that I never should have bought the stupid van.

I have problems with my car not starting. It has a new battery but when it's cold here. Below 10 degrees overnight, the starter is too cold to turn over and start the car. You might check this. We have done a cheap temorary fix until we have the money to buy a new starter by hooking up a heat lamp under the hood on cold nights. This keeps it warm enough to start up in the morning. Our neighbors must think we are nuts with a light under the hood at night and a blanket over the hood held down by two by fours in case of wind. It just sits glowing in the drive, LOL. My dd says we are very redneck, but I think it was a very creative idea and it works!

I think this is a very good/frugal idea. Ignore your dd!
That's the way things go sometimes... so stressful. I do hope it is a cheap fix for ya. Good luck!
