I am sending good thoughts your way. You were right in convincing him to quit. That was not safe for him while driving and not safe for his well being in general or yours either for that matter.

Wow, how weird is it that it was 2 years ago yesterday that I last posted to this thread! I had no clue until Purple Snowflake messaged me that people were still posting!
It warms my heart that there are still good people out there that truely care about what happens to others.
On to my update for the past two years! LOL
DH is still at the same company and doing wonderfully! Last year, he did get majorly injured on the job (tore his quad tendon off of his knee cap). These people were amazing in how they treated us. Checking in on both of us and making sure I had enough help and MAKING DH stay home until he was 100% fully recovered. There were no problems with workman's comp, they made sure of it, as well as making sure we didn't go without while waiting for workman's comp to kick in. The hospital he was at for the trauma and surgery was over an hour away so they made sure I had gas and hotel money to be able to travel and be close to him during the ordeal. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking of how wonderful this company/family has been to us over the past two years. They don't just treat you like family, you become family with them!
Financially, we are doing better and better as well. DH makes quite a bit more than he was at the other job, so financials aren't as much of a worry. We were also able to get a regular 15 year mortgage last year as well (DH had taken a balloon loan mortgage right before we started dating, so we had to wait it out to get rid of it) so that is in order finally!
Things really are falling into place. That saying is so so true about one door closing and another opening.
As for the other company, it is barely hanging on. The shop is only open 2-3 days a week and everyone is only working part time. DH still comes home and tells me how many customers switched to his company from the old company. He still talks to a couple of the guys that work for the old company and they say it isn't any better and that there is hardly any work because of the customer loss. Most of the guys he worked with have moved on from the company as well.
Again, I am so thankful for caring people. Complete strangers that care, when friends and family do not. Our families really did nothing more than tell us what hardships they were in also. We weren't asking for money from them, just some emotional support which they failed to give us. It's alright though as we made it through together. I'm thankful to also have such a strong marriage that can tackle some of the worst situations like losing a job or major injuries and illnesses!
That is pretty much the update from the past two years. We just got a puppy in December, which we decided we could afford, and have been trying to get pregnant as well. So, we are doing pretty well and very happy
