Good to hear it came through. I have heard of people having to wait that long also. (applying and reapplying) I think you should be getting back monies for the years you were disabled but denied. Plus that money is supposed to be untouchable, as far as if you apply for other types of aid. Make sure you look into that for your state.
I'm glad you were approved. I know you must be relieved.

Glad you got it. I'm in the same battle myself right now. I've been denied twice already and I'm now waiting on a hearing. Its been about 17 months and could take another year or 2.
I know Joe if he could ever get his sezures to stop would love to go back to work, but if he would get canned because of sezures coming back .. he is scared of how hard it would be to get SSI back. He hates to be on it but its life.
I've been waiting since Oct of 05 I have been denied 3 times and waiting to go before the judge......... I was told by my lawyer it would be another 18 months.. I went with a lawyer because I just don't have it in me to fight anymore. I'll let the lawyer do it for me........

Yes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.
It always takes a lawyer to get it - the paperwork has to be filled out in a specific way. It took me 2 1/2 years, 3 turn downs and a hearing. Once it was approved, it took about a month and a half for the first half of the settlement and about a month later I got the balance.
How the heck to do some people make it through. I made it, but by the skin of my teeth.
Congrats.. Keep hanging in there.. glad your battle is almost over. I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but you know, the lawyer does work..maybe they got in kahoots with the ssi dept. then everyone gets a dip...sad thing though as people wait for money that they need.
My father in law is going through the same thing right now. It's been years and he is still waiting. In the meantime they are barely surviving moneywise. It's a sad cycle that SSI puts it's applicants through.
I agree that a lawyer is a good thing for this but my goodness taking 1/3 of the money is such a rip-off. You finally get your money so you can live and the lawyer takes a HUGE chunk. Grrrr...
Glad you are getting your SSDI. So many people need it and get denied. And the waiting... awful. It is such a sad state everything has gotten in to. I imagine they are so particular because they have people that apply that really are not entitled to it, but it makes those that are entitled suffer.

I don't know why you have to wait another 60 days for them to let you know how much you will be getting. The judge is in the same building as SS, so why can't they get together and send everything together? It would save a lot of time.
I was lucky enough to get food stamps, medicaid, and Section 8, otherwise I would have been homeless. My 3 sons paid my bills for me once my disability from work stopped. They insisted, so who was I to deny it, LOL. They really came through for me and my 3 younger kids.
It's great to have family willing to chip in.

For those of you who are awaiting your hearing, make sure you go to all your dr. appts. They really look at that.
If you need to go see specialists, make sure you get documentation from them all, like MRI, CAT scan results, etc.
I had 2 MRI's and a CAT scan while waiting, and I made sure I got the results myself and copied them to my lawyer. Make sure your lawyer knows all your DR appts, medications, etc. That's a big help, too.
