Private People Kith
~I'm a very private person. There are soooo many subjects I won't discuss on a public forum. I won't use the Geo feature because 'South Jersey' is all anyone needs to know. I'm extremely guarded about what I put out there for the whole world to know(not like they'd care or anything!). I don't even hang our family's unmentionables out on the clothesline
. I think alot of people mistake the space I need around me as a wall. It's taken me a looong time to decide to post this Kith because, duh, I like my privacy! But I'm sure there are other villagers out there that maybe don't post too often or wonder if anyone here knows them at all and I just wanted a place to let you all say "Yes I'm here but I like my space!"~

Ya. I'm like that a lot, though, with my nutty personality, you'd probably never guess. (It's in my genes, I can't help being nutty.) I use to be a real turtle. I've come out of my shell a lot since then, though that turtle shell is still around -- you've gotta be that way with financial info, SSN, insurance data, and that kinda stuff these days. I'm always watching that stuff.

It is the same with me to a point. DH is totally private. He doesn't like photo's taken and wants me to "keep him out" of the blogs/web pages etc that I have.

Yes, I can totally relate. There have been so many times I have wanted to share something here about myself, my life, but stop because after all this is a public forum that ANYONE can read. I remember one of the members here warning us because she had gone through a nightmare on the internet due to giving out too much information, and it kinda scared me. There are things I want to share with the people here I feel like I know and trust, but sometimes hold back for this reason. I don't even feel comfortable posting a picture of myself or putting my name in my signature, is that weird?! LOL! I always use my real name if private messaging and have sent a picture to a few members. I feel really comfortable with all the regular members though, and would share much more with them if I could.

I'm pretty private too. I try not to use names and such and only listed the general area on the Geo for us not our hometown. So yeah I think I'm pretty private too.

~Thank you for the apology, rcannon. The descriptive of the Kith forum reads: "Find Your Kith Forum to find fellow members that are kindred spirits. Helps you locate other like-minded and similar FV members. The regional forums bind us by location and this forum binds us through other similarities." There used to be an addendum that stated only to post to a Kith if you belonged in it. I was a little offended by the comment, yes, but also confused since the topic in this thread is "Are you a private person" not "Are you a paranoid person".~

I am incredibly private. I'll share things like my name and that I'm in Dallas (a pretty decent sized city) but I tend to keep personal experiences and situations/struggles off the internet. I do that in RL too though. I've always had the "what happens at home, stays at home" mentality. My mother pretty much stamped that on my forehead as a child LOL.

I think am, but sometimes I'm not, if that makes sense, LOL.
I'll post personal stories, but never anything you could use to find me. My DH is a cop and we know for sure that someone was trying to find him online... so anything I do online is pretty generic, not using names. And I absolutely won't post a photo of my kids anywhere public online- I used to use one as an avatar various places, but after a lady I barely knew told me she'd saved the photo to her hard drive, I was creeped out. People who fill their blogs with photos of their children worry me, but, that's their decision.
I vented a few weeks ago about a personal problem in the Haven on here, but I took out the relationship and specific details. And even then I felt funny posting it, but I really needed to vent, so I did post it.
I did post my general city on the Geo thingy, but it's the large city that I live near- close enough!
Yet... I enjoy this forum and one other one, and I feel comfortable enough here to share some details and stories of my personal life.
So.... I guess I have one foot in this kith and one foot out.

I find lately, that I will type something and proof read it (I only proof if it has personal info, hence all the errors in my other posts) and then usually end up not posting. You would never guess that I am a private person, but like many have said "this is out there for everyone". I check to make sure that I don't use my dh's name or my kids'... Cautious, cautious, cautious....

I am a very private person on-line not because I worry about my safety but because I don't want to have to defend myself or my choices. On another forum I made a comment about my child and I was verbally attacked by another member. After that I give little or no details about my life. I know that has held me back from making on line friends but my main purpose is too learn from others. Sometimes I feel bad that I am not sharing enough for others to learn from me.

I totally agree with you all. My life is mine and no one needs to know the details. At work, I am so tired of hearing every detail of people's lives. I figure I don't really care about the little details of their lives so why would anyone care about mine?
I'm with you all the way.

I also try to be very careful what I put online. A couple of days ago I started a post about my finances to get advice and then deleted the whole thing. I decided I didn't want that much information out there. I also try to keep things pretty general.
I am very outgoing in the "real world" but I am still very private.

In RL I'm about as private as they come until I REALLY get to know you and then there are still VERY few I am truely open with. I will converse pleasently over non personal things but personal matters are kept in check. If I've invited you into my home that is a huge step for me. Once your there feel free to be comfortable as long as you respect my values in it. My home is my safe haven. I wouldn't invite you in if I didn't feel really comfortable with you. DH on the other hand is an open book and thinks nothing of dragging anyone in and out. This is one of the areas he's made several concessions for me and yet I still want more and have to watch myself with the over reacting.
Online I'm pretty private too. I am more open in the village but you still won't see names floating out there as I post about my children or family.
