My husband and I reminisce every now and again. I happened to live in the US during that period. Here's some of the stuff I remember (I tried no to repeat what others mentioned).

    -candy necklaces
    -candy dots on paper
    -orange push ice cream
    -psychedelic jawbreakers
    -rock candy
    -Dancerina ballet doll
-my Mom a bought Pepto-Bismol pink washer and dryer set
    -The Ed Sullivan Show
-my sibling and I went to classes on Saturday and got 75 cents for Burger King, it bought a hamburger, fries and pop
-I distinctly remember the gas station down the street selling gas for 32 cents a gallon
-I loved my Four Seasons 'Patch of Blue' 45
    -metal (aluminum?) Christmas tree

My older brother was into chess, Bruce Lee, nunchucks, karate and Monty Python.

Since my husband and I missed periods of American TV growing up, we have been catching up on Netflix! We were watching Dark Shadows a few months back, now we are on to Gunsmoke!

OMG! Gunny Sack dresses! I loved those but could never understand why they were so expensive!

I loved the Waltons (and still watch them on reruns), Little House on the Prairie, John Denver Christmas special. The movie Sunshine, does anyone remember that movie? The mother had died and the father (a musician) was raising her and his parents wanted to take her away. I just got goosebumps thinking about that movie.
things were certainly different then. I'm glad I grew up in that era.

    - Being in love with David Cassidy, Donny Osmond and Bobby Sherman

    - Playing my 45's

Specific ones that come to mind right now are:

    • Smile a little, smile for me Rosemarie
    • I think I love you
    • Puppy Love
    • Leaving on a Jet plane
    • Sugar Sugar
    • Bang-shang-a-lang
    • Joy to the World
    • Shambala

Putting silly putty on the Sunday comics and getting the picture on the silly putty.

My mom getting some of our Christmas presents with green stamps!

There's so much more but it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm getting tired so that's it for now.

Come on gals [or guys!], tell us what you remember about growing up in this time period.

    Love,

    Jen
I remember collecting Star Wars cards...lol.
As far as music liked "fleeetwood mac" "America" and other groups. I mostly listened to the radio.

Also i remember in the mid 70's watching my dad use the automatic teller at the bank and thinking "Wow, what a cool card ! " LOL

I'm really glad someone revived this thread!

    Thanks for the memories...

My youngest daughter is almost 14, and on Sundays at 7:00 she
watches Lawrence Welk with me. I am sure she would not want
her friends to know that she has memorized and sings the "Good-night" theme song at the end of the program....

    Good night,
    Sleep tight,
    And pleasant dreams to you,
    Here's a wish, and a prayer,
That all your dreams come true,
And now til we meet again
Adios, Aurivoire, Alvedisane..............(very sorry about the spelling!)

I was born in 1968, but I remember watching speed racer, scooby due, I remember when cassettes came out, and you could buy vinyl records, love when you did not have to go to the big mall to watch movies, just walked into town.

I loved donnie and marie show, I had their barbie dolls along with cher doll that had the eyelashed.

Anyone remember he start of MTV, when someone first asked me if I watched it I was what the heck was it. Same with VH1.

I remember the Chrissy dolls, I had a very large one and a smaller one. I remember hulu hoops, The Hardy Boys Show (I also had a crush on Shawn Cassidy)
    Clogs (shoes)
Bell bottoms (I hated them, when I rode my bike I had to wrap them around my leg several times and put a rubber band around it)
