I spent a number of years working as a social worker -- we're all "bleeding heart liberals."

Seriously I am a firm believer in living in balance in all areas of life, so I try to walk "the middle path." That can be difficult because you have people pulling at you from both directions. And I have been labeled a not just a liberal but a "big bad one" for some of the craziest things

Give me a few years and I will be a member of this kith! I have always been a staunch conservative but voted Democrat in this last election. I'm a moderate now, but given time I'll probably lean further and further left. My husband teases me that I have gone over to the "dark side."

My MIL used to be republican and now considers herself a democrat. I always am surprised when that happens because all my life people would say to me "Just you wait, the older you get, the more conservative you'll get!" and that has yet to happen!

What change for me is the way black people were treaty in is country. There are lot of people who work hard and struggle just do right for their family. These people are not lazy.

Noticed there are a few "political" statements in this thread. It is probably not the intent of the original poster to start a political discussion.

I am just the opposite of what they told you , I was much more conservative when I was younger and now as I have gotten older, I have become much more liberal.

My parents are old school democrats -- and my father is a WWII vet! They raised me well, but I think my ideas are a tad bit further left than theirs

Well said gg! This is exactly what has chased me away from the conservative side. Some of the neo-Con stuff is just way too mean spirited for my taste.
