    Default Young penny pinchers kith

I don't necessarily like the term penny pincher, but couldn't think of anything creative lol.

This is a kith for those of us who are frugal and 26 years old or younger. Not that 26 is some magic number that makes you no longer "young", just the age that popped into my head .

So how many of us here are there?

I just turned 24...do your friends think you're weird too? Because most of my friends laugh at me when I pull out my coupons at the store or when they see my stockpile at home. Good thing my boyfriend is frugal too, or else I'd have no support system!

I'm 22! I don't really talk to my friends much about being frugal. People at work used to laugh about my coupons. I laugh at them because I 'm not flat broke... My cousin always laughed too whenever I pulled out my coupons, but recently she bought me a coupon organizer and put some coupons in it! She said she saw it and just had to get it for me.

I barely fall into the young category! I'm 26. Glad to know there are other people my age and younger out there who are into being frugal.

I honestly don't say much about it, except when it's a tip that I think a friend could use and I know they'd be open-minded. The majority of my friends are older than me (I'm 22) and some frugality things they consider to be "normal" because that's the way that they were raised, but my friends that are my age would think I'm nuts. But hey, I'm a young mom (I have a 20m old with one baby on the way) and I need to save some money sometimes lol

Well I haven't been very frugal yet, but I am 23, which makes me good for this kith!

Yay for being young and (trying?) to be frugal!

I've got a question for you ladies... When it comes to frugality and debt reduction, do you feel like time is on your side? or do you feel like the last few years since highschool you buried yourself? So you feel that you may be out of debt by 30? Also, do you feel the pressure of being young in todays society where marketing is being geared to us (and younger), to buy unnecessary things?

Sometimes I feel like time is on my side, that I have the rest of my life ahead of me to make things right, but when things go wrong, I wish I hadn't been stupid about my money in college. My goal is to be out of debt by thirty, I guess we'll have to see how that works out. But sometimes I get overwhelmed, the magazine, the trendy tv shows portraying people our age, all make me want to buy all the expensive unnecessary fashions and makeup and all that junk. I get fed up with it because its like something else takes over my brain. Ever feel that way?

I do feel that time is on my side; luckily I finished college with no student loans and no credit card debt. The only debt I have is my mortgage which I do not see paid off by the time I'm 30.

I also feel very deprived when I want to go shopping for new clothes at American Eagle, the Buckle, or New York and Company, and I know that I really should not be spending that kind of money. So it does take a lot of will power to resist spending especially when a lot of my friends are going out shopping, buying new cars, etc.

I'm 24. My fiance is too. We just bought a house 2 months ago and our mortgage is 3x what we were paying in rent. We've pretty much cut out all extras to be able to afford the necessities. No cable, rarely eat out, driving less, no unnecessary shopping. But we look at our house and feel like it is all worth it.

We see many people our age living lavishly - eating out and buying everything they desire. But we are happy with our decisions.

    Debt as of 10/25/09:

    Student Loan: Currently $9500

    Mortgage: $472,000
    Discover CC: $6500 at 0%
    Chase Disney: $3000 at 0%

    Goals:
Get monthly food budget down to $200/month for me and my husband.
