Speaking of books.....who reads Diana Gabaldon?
I absolutly adore her books. I don't think I'll ever want a movie to come out, I don't think it could live up to it.

Me too!! Me too!!!! I am finishing up Drums of Autumn right now, and , wow, these are great.....although I so far have loved the first two the most...... and I will have to say.... my husband has sure benefitted from me reading these!!!!!!!
Have you seen her site? somewhere on there or on one you can get to from her site.... they show DG's man who she thinks most would look like Jamie.... I could somewhat see it, but my version would be a combination of Bryan Adams with short hair, and a much larger guy,not sure who, maybe Liam Neeson. ......with red hair of course , or maybe my new fave, Gerard Butler......mmmmmmmmmmm..... where's my hubby?????????Sheri

This is kind of funny...but I just sold 3 Diana Gabaldon books on Ebay recently. Drums of Autumn was one of them.

I love these; one of my favorite series! I saw that they are putting out a graphic novel...they showed a sneak peak of Claire. I had no idea what I expected her to look like, but not like that! Beautiful, of course, but not what I expected. lol!

I just can't picture Jamie...I've tried, but in my head he always looks older. Which is fine in the later books, but not at the start. lol!

Love the books! I've read them many times and tbh I think my hubby would make a good Jamie lol. He's tall, nicely built, and redheaded. There is even some Scottish ancestry so there ya go!

I read the first one and while I thought it was good, I didn't think it was GREAT. Are all the books about the same two characters?

Jamie and Claire are the main characters in the book but in the latter ones their daughter and her husband are in the storyline more.I think one of the great things about the books is the authors knowledge of the history and geography of her locations I don't know for sure about France and U.S. but when the action takes place in Scotland the history between the Scots and English the accents, slang, phrases used is perfect-she really did her research. After I read her first book I went online to try and find her Scottish ties I couldn't believe she could be so accurate without having some Scottish background.

Thanks. I did like her historical input. I love that in books. I love when an author can describe a scene so well that you feel as if you are there. She is good at that. My problem was with the story itself. My mom is currently reading the first one and she is a nurse and she can't stand the book so far due to the fact that Claire seems to know so much about medicine and how to do SO much. That didn't bother me so much, but other aspects did that I don't want to repeat here because it might be a spoiler.

I was a nurse also and I can understand why it seemed that Claire knew so much 'cos believe me I wouldn't have to clue about a lot of what she was doing-but I think the fact that she was a nurse during WW1 and she was in the battlefield meant that she actually would have done more than nurses today(or many doctors today)in fact I think I read somewhere that was one of the reasons the author chose the time period. One of the other reasons I liked the books was that I knew she was so accurate with the Scottish parts I assumed it was the same with the U.S. parts and I felt I was learning a bit about life in that time.
