    Default Any Frugal Foodies about?

I love to cook and plan frugal meals, trying to make the very best of what I have with as little waste as possible. Often, I take pictures of what I make and blog about them, but not always I just wondered if there were any other frugal foodies about.

I have a cooking blog so, yes, I am a foodie ~ not always frugal though. My family has finally learned NOT to touch the food until I have taken my photos, LOL!

Count me in! My blog is mostly about frugal vegetarian cooking. I love to cook and share my cooking. DH is usually finished eating before I'm done photographing the meal...lol!

Mostly everything I cook is frugal. I was raised in a quasi-ethnic home. Mom did half ethnic and half American. She doesn't know how I am so courageous to try different dishes. I reuse/reinvent meat dishes. DH groans when the pot pie or croquettes come to the table. I also love to try other ethnic dishes from various countries. DH doesn't eat them because he wants meat and potatoes. I get to eat it all! YUM!

I love food. I love to eat out and try new cuisines, but it gets too expensive. So I've learned to cook and I've spent years learning to copy restaurant favorites so I can enjoy them at home for less. We're having home-made gourmet pizzas for dinner tonight.

Love food, love being frugal. I'm fortunate in that my family is adventerous about trying new foods. They'll try anything once. They may request not to have to try it again - but they're always good for at least one time, LOL.

Well, I consider myself a pretty good cook. I don't take pictures but I'm a fanatic about cooking shows and blogs. Typically, it's what's in the frig and cupboards and do I have 1) a bundt pan 2) creme freich (sic) 3) food processer 4) time and 5) desire. . . but yeah, I enjoy and revel in good food.

Wow, it's great to see some fellow foodies! I do have a food blog, but it's only just starting out and isn't that great yet I'm looking forward to putting more into it and my Fusband is well used to me taking photos of food. He's lovely - he even gives me advice on how best to light the pictures, the best settings for the camera and good poses for the subject matter involved (mainly cakes, as I looooove to bake, but there are mains and other stuff too).

I once took photos of my leftover Bolognese Toasted sandwiches for my blog because I felt so clever about it

I am a frugal foodie I suppose. When my husband is home we eat in every night of the month except maybe one or two. When he's gone I still eat in most of the time, but my friends like to eat out and I hate being alone so I go with them a lot.

I love to cook, and I love to save money...so why not put the two together right? I am currently trying to lose weight, and I find that there are a lot of healthy meals that you can make for quite cheap. If anyone wants any recipes, just hit me up with a message or something. I don't really do the blog thing...tried once and forgot about it LOL!

I shall probably do that, Lady Wicky. I don't tend to cook too much when I'm on my own, although I used to love taking the opportunity to make things I wouldn't normally make when cooking for DH2B. It's a question of effort. Loooooong days make it hard to get excited when I get home! I am trying to lose a couple of pounds for my wedding in a couple of months and I'm always on the lookout for new recipes. I try on average to make at least two new dishes a month and to get them as cheaply as possible. I love that.

It's like, I had the ingredients for shortcrust pastry in the cupboards which didn't come to a lot of pennies anyway. Some steak I'd had in the freezer for ages and a few veggies made Cornish Pasties. All in all it works out at not very much per pasty at all. Result!

Yes, getting to cook with onions and not having to make them disappear is awesome! (If you cut up an onion and freeze it, when you cook with it, it just disintegrates.) My hubby HATES onions. I mean, if he even thinks there's an onion in something he won't even try it. I however LOVE them.

I have a great recipe for baked onion rings. It's super easy, and all it takes is an onion, bread crumbs, and egg whites. You simply cut the onion in rings and separate them, dip the onion in the egg white and then in bread crumbs. Then bake at 400 for 7-10 minutes on each side. You can leave them in longer if you like them crunchier. Right now onions are on sale since it's summer, breadcrumbs are a good way to save stale bread, and eggs are a staple that everyone except those with allergies should have.

Count me in too! I also blog a lot about food and love to take pictures of the stuff that I make. I am continuing to learn more about cooking cheaper from this site. It's become fun to incorporate cheaper ingredients into great dishes.

Are you all willing to share some of your favorite food blog sites that you read?

I read Foodgawker a lot, and look at things that catch my eye from there, but I don't look at any in particular yet. Anyone have any good recommendations?

Lady Wicky, I just made a note of that onion ring tip and will definitely make it I can't think of a nicer thing to have with a movie and a quiet night in.
