Living in Michigan and loving the lakes and the Mac area (see my avatar?), this movie is an all time favorite of mine.

The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island is where it was filmed, and they host a "Somewhere in Time" weekend every year, I think in October or August.

The hotel boasted the longest porch in the world until a few years back, when another hotel topped that.

Cars are NOT allowed on the island. Only emergency vehicles (fire truck & ambulance) are allowed. The only time cars have ever been allowed on the island was for the filming of this movie.

My mom also loves this movie. She says the point where he disappears back into the future and she screams his name just gives her chills - every time she sees it.
