My dad told me I'd do well in jail or prison, as long as I had some good books to read!

Homebody here
I used to go out a lot, but around here, there are nothing but bars, and I hate bars, so I end up staying home a lot. Besides, my work schedule isn't conducive to socializing much.
I guess I started to be a real homebody when my last relationship started to go sour. I sort of shut myself up in the house, and never went out, gained a lot of weight, and just wanted to hide.
Now I'm wanting to get out to meet people, but I don't know how. I'm really lonely here alone all the time.

I'm definitely a homebody! I will occassionally go out to the bar, if my friend's band is playing, and I do see my inlaws every few weeks or so. But give me my books, my writing, and my garden. I love to be home cooking, and (in some cases) cleaning and just being with my kids and my animals!

That would be me. I love being at home and cooking and decorateing and just being at peace. I even like to clean and declutter. I would rather eat at home. I eat alot of low carb and it is just to hard to go out so i also exercise with a treadmill and I walk the neighbor hood weather permitting. My husband travels alot now and he likes being at home. We love it.

I'm a homebody too except for when I need to go to the grocery store or to Walmart.
But, regardless pretty much of where I go - I don't like to be gone for more than an hour or two [weird, aren't I?
]
As with what someone else has said ... give me a crochet hook, a good book or in my case - plastic canvas and yarn and I'm happy right here at home!
Love,
Jennelle

I belong to this group also. Wasn't always this way but I guess I started being more of a homebody many years ago when we were going thru some tight financial times. It got to be a habit and now most of the time I prefer home to being anywhere else (well, except for the once a month "dinner out"!). Always have some sort of home project going on.

I'm a definite homebody! (here I thought I was an oddity)
It bothers my mom that I don't get out (since I'm single) but I would rather be at home doing my stuff that I do (on the computer, watching tv, cross-stitching, reading, just being with my cats) I'm content here -although it would be nice to be married again---but I can never find anyone who wants to be a homebody with me!!! It's such a dilemma.
People jokingly say I'm going to be an old cat lady (sometimes that hurts my feelings)
But I've recently read that some people are drained by social interactions and being alone is a recharge while others (most others) are the opposite. I'm definitely in the first group. And I'm glad to see there are a lot of other people here that like being home like me.

Joline, don't feel bad - I felt like I was an odd-ball too 'cuz I prefer staying home rather than going places.
The one exception is that I do love to travel to other states and such but since I no longer own a vehicle, for the time being - it doesn't look like I'll be going much farther than to Walmart.
Love,
Jennelle
P.S. I spend much of my time home with my cat as well and feel guilty the times when I do leave her. Silly, aren't I?

i love to stay home!
dinner and a movie you say???

*giggle* There aren't any homebodies out there... they are all in here!

Anyways, I guess I never thought of myself as a home-body...more of a home-based-individual.
I prefer to stay close to home, but when I travel, it's anything BUT close, like Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, etc.
I would rather sit outside with my yarn and watch DD play than go to a movie. I would rather till my own 'plot' and design the layout for the veggies (since it's only 3'x5', I have to make it all work)
I hate the movies in fact. DF and I will make a list of movies we want to see, then jaunt down to the library and rent it free. I use to love going out to eat We still do from time to time, but I never really enjoy it anymore, I do it more for DF.
When I find a battery operated sewing machine, I may start venturing out more...
but with the cost of gas lately, I don't think that will be happening anytime soon.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

My home is everything to me. I have always worked outside of the home and because of some health problems, I have resigned my postition with the surgeons I work for. It was a tough decision, but being at home will suit me. I rarely get off the place on the weekends. I am like the rest of you, I love to decorate, read, and just make a cozy place for me and my dh. Being home full time will suit me and it will be a big change, but I am ready for it.
