I was took Shuri Ryu Karate for about six months several years ago. I really miss it! Work and school schedules have kept me from going back. I thought I might get back this fall, but NO, karate classes are Tuesday and Thursday, all three classes at school are Tuesday and Thursday. Oh well, some day. In the meantime I need to get out and walk so I will be in better shape. I think the discipline of paying money and going 3x week at a set time was good for me. I never did that much exercise on my own.
I did shaolin Kempo for twelve years, go ju ryu for one and I tried Jeet kune do for 6 months...Ive also instructed kempo and kickboxing....I think Ill probably go back to the kempo soon,,there are a number of schools on long island several in huntington my town alone...i left jeet kune do(where i was helping to teach kids)because the style didnt suit me, more so My Sifu had a different outlook on the whole of martail arts, more about aggression and tearing others apart then the whole philosophy of body mind integration and only using it as a self defense...i love martial arts...ive also done tai chi...hope to get back into it when I have an income again!!
I did Aikido for years but haven't found a nice dojo in the area to get back to it. Also tried Shaolin Kung Fu -- LOVED it! Oh well, one of these days when I have both time and money I'll get back to it or then when DS is old enough start again with him.
I just started up with a kempo class here in huntington again am real excited about it....I am starting over from the beginning since it has been quite a few years since I took kempo....
I did Tae Kwon Do many years ago when I was young and ultra-flexible, and more recently I've done Muay Thai and Eskrima. It's great for keeping in shape and stress relief!
I used to be in years ago... Just getting started again...doing Kenpo. Really
excited!!
My kids have all done martial arts at one time or another. 3 Oldest did kajakenpo,my son did the kajakenpo,Kung fu praying mantis form, and also grappling hands. The youngest I made a mistake and signed her up for tai kwon doe, she hated it, too much legs. My husband likes hop-ke-do,probably spelled a lot wrong and I only have done slow morning one,the name has slipped my head.Tai chee.
