Shabby Chic Kith
Any other fans of shabby chic style out there? I love the colors of shabby chic, the whites and pastels and the cottage look of it. I would not do my entire home in it because my Dh does not love the feminine look of it like I do but I adore it for bedrooms and baths.

Yes! I've often envisioned a room of my own--a little sitting room or something---all done in shabby chic. I have a dh (thinks like yours) and two grown sons, and no one would appreciate it except me.

I adore shabby chic. My husband likes more modern things. So I'm trying to blend the two as well as I can....

I love the look of shabby chic style, but not for a whole house.

I like it -- it blends well with the frugal lifestyle, as there isn't much maintenance. It would also go with my bohemian country persona. But
is more into the streamline and modern "sexy" look. We'll make it work.

I love it but dh prefers a less girly look so I have my house done in primative american. Lots of black and that makes the man of the house happy.

I like Shabby Chic a lot. I have some Shabby Chic fake pasteries (cupcakes and bonbons) that are so cute. I have them here in my bedroom where I can see them all the time!!

I found this explanation on the internet and it does a pretty good job of explaining it. "Shabby Chic is an eclectic decorating style using a balance of the following elements found at garage sales, flea markets, or in grandma's attic: painted furniture, slipcovers, tea stained fabrics, overstuffed upholstery, architectural details, imperfect and mismatched accessories, flowers, pillows, and candles"
I always think of shabby chic as lots of whites, pastels, especially greens and pinks, lots of lace and old linens. It can also encompass reusing items for other than their original use, like using stacked up suitcases for end tables, using old tin ceiling panels for art, tea cups and bowls for flowers and plants, ect. It also uses lots of painted white furniture. If you do an image search on google for shabby chic it will show you some lovely examples.

I LOVE shabby chic, but as the only female in the house, nothing here is shabby chic. Actually, lots of shabby as I have two young boys, but none of the chic.

I do it in the less formal areas of the house, (kitchen, guest rooms, laundry room)using whites, creams and less "girly" colors.I mix it with Victorian in the other areas and save the "High Victorian" for the entry foyer, parlor and office. It all works well together.

I absolutely love Shabby Chic and have my bedroom done in it [no hubby to have to please!]
Eventually I'd like to do my livingroom in it as well.
