I quit diet coke a while back and had terrible withdrawals! Headache, vomiting...After 24 hours I was fine.
I do still drink diet coke as a treat especially Sonic happy hour drinks when I'm running errands in the afternoons! I prefer water straight from the tap. No ice. Most people I know drink cold, bottled water. Good luck.Wife to Kevin: 20 years

I think I'd better join in with this. I'm terrible for these things, and go through phases of being able to go without, but then a large reliance on them due to starting work really early

So, starting tomorrow I shall start to cut down again, in preparation for quitting completely.
Wish me luck!

Bring the Diet Soda Challenge back to Life.
I want to quit Diet Soda all together by December 31, 2010.
That's my Goal!
The challenge will be for me to only allow myself so much and slowly cut down.
Starting Tomorrow(since I have already done over 2~ 12 oz's):
until 10/31/2010 I will allow myself 1 Diet Soda a day (12 oz's)
I will post in my signature line. If i feel I can cut down less, I will and if I can quit all together I will....

I'm cutting down too, KimZ. I'm not ready to give it up completely because I need the caffeine to combat the drowsiness caused by my antihistamines. (They're the "non-drowsy" kind, but not for me apparently.)
I used to drink a few cups of coffee and 5 or 6 cans of DP a day. I'm now down to one cup of coffee and 1-2 cans of DP. I'll be watching your progress and cheering you on!

i can buy a bottle of 100 generic caffiene tabs for under 4$ at walmart . - i think they are = to 2 cups ofd coffee ??( not sure ) - i never drank soda or caffiene really in the AM but with my fibro i am prone to migraines and it helps keep them at bay .
i take 1/2 caplet each am
so thats 200 days worth for under 4$ or less than 2 c a day .
alot cheaper than the soda-
allows you to fully removed yourself from the soda if you find it addicting .
wont stain your teeth and doesnt add calories or artificial sweeteners ( which are neurotoxins to many people - i cant take them - and some dont realize how bad it can make them feel until they stop taking it in )
also the carbonation in soda makes it harder for your body to absorb calcium .*~Debbi~*

Hmmmm...thanks for posting that, Momto5RN. I actually bought a bottle of caffeine pills back in the summer and promptly forgot all about them. I'll give them a trial run tomorrow.

You could probably go to his website and find out the whole program..........but did you see the thing on Dr. Oz about quitting soda?
He had a plan to have you off it in a month, think it was.
He starts you out the first week by sub'ing 1/2 of whatever you drink with no caffeine...........weaning you off it. And cuts down from there. Sounded like a neat idea to me.
Good luck .........
