Quitting diet pepsi
I was just wondering if there is anyone here trying to quit diet pepsi? I quit 3 days ago, I'm doing fine except that I ached all over this morning. I took an ibuprophen and I felt better. So, far I'm replacing my drink with ice water with fresh lemon. It really isn't so bad. Thought I would get headaches. I was drinking a 44oz, plus maybe two more 12 oz cans. I really hope to be able to really quit this time. I've tried 2 other times. Does anyone have any success stories to share? I would love to hear from you. This will probably help out on the budget, saving at least $20+ per month. Now, if only I can get my husband to REFILL his water bottles instead of opening a new one all the time!!! We do have a reverse osmosis water system for drinking water, that helps alot!

I never drank diet but I used to drink a 2 liter of pop a day. I ache so much less and am so less emotional and jittery. I used to hate water but now I like it. I have been off most pop for about 3 months. I have lost 18# from this and other emotional and diet changes. I used to rev up and drop down constantly. I thought that was my actual personality. I yell and scream a lot less now. Sugar calls sugar and now I eat almost none. I actually don't like the taste and fizz of pop. I had a coke the other day, drank 1/2 and didin't want the rest. TMI but being less "carbonated" my body is happier. I used to get cysts and don't. Leave it alone. The carbonation (phospherous) will deteriorate your bones.

Good job! Your body will thank you for it and you will feel so much better. I quit drinking sodas about 3 or 4 months ago. I gave up all caffeine for about a week to detox and for that time I had headaches and 'space brain'. I feel so much better now and don't have the energy highs and lows rollercoaster going on. I'm even considering switching my morning cup of coffee for tea because I'm realizing how much the coffee, even just my one morning cup, is giving me anxiety. (tea doesn't do that to me) I'm now taking a liquid calcium/magnesium supplement to try and strengthen my bones after so many years of drinking soda.
You can do this! Just be determined and keep drinking lots of water. Your symptoms should only last a few more days. Good luck and update us on how you're doing.“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”

courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Didn't drink diet sodas but drank sodas all the time, from morning till night. If it was in the house, I drank it. And I always had to stop and get something to drink, no small in my vocabulary had to be the 44 oz. As of right now I have not had a soda since January 1, 2004. I drink tea. It was easier than I thought.

I was a Diet Pepsi addict. I drank well over 6 cans a day for 30 years. I began to get very foggy brained and I started looking into aspartame. When I saw the effects that aspartame can have on you, I stopped drinking Diet Pepsi over a year and a half ago. The withdrawal that I had was bad for about 2 weeks. My eyes felt swollen and so did my lips and I was very jittery. I did not have the caffeine withdrawal because I had given up the caffeine kind a year earlier. It actually took longer until I felt truly better from not drinkiing the soda. I only drink water now. Sometimes I miss my Diet Pepsi but when I do, I think about the horrible withdrawal that I had from it and I will never drink another can. I refuse to consume anything with aspartame in it ever again.

I think its worth the effort. I gave up regular Coke almost 2 months ago. I still drink a Sprite (12oz) most days & a Dr Pepper maybe once a week (really dislike the taste of Coke now). I'm surprised by how much I enjoy ice water & how easy it has been. Honestly, I sleep so much better. DH actually gave up Coke quite easily too after drinking 48oz or more a day. He drinks water (adds lemon once/twice a day) & Gatorade a few times a week. We actually got a Brita pitcher last night ($7.50 coupon in Sundays paper) & will try it out tonight. Best of luck fighting those cravings!

Updating.... 2 weeks without the Diet Pepsi! Water is definately growing on me. I'm trying not to have a crutch, like tea, or anything else. I don't want to be a "slave" to, or "need" to have a certain drink. Just delicious cold water, lemon is nice though!
