I actually bought groceries today...for $2.35CAD!
Yep, some mushrooms and pineapple tidbits for the top of a pizza tomorrow night. I made up more menus for the next 3-4 days from freezer and pantry by and large. Monday we'll have time to do a proper grocery shop.
Tonight will be Swiss Chard Pie and Garlic Toast. Maybe a fruit crisp for dessert for the weekend.
Tomorrow will be a chicken pizza.2013 Challenges

Still eating out of my freezer. I can see the bottom of it now. I should have all the frozen eaten up by Feb. I'm done with my pantry and now starting to stockpile it back up. YEAH!!!

I went down in flames today as far as this challenge goes. I had a serious list of errands to get in before work. I planned to eat lunch out, just to make it work, and take supper to work with me. Head full of what I needed to take, what I needed to do, working out driving routes - you guessed it. I forgot to pack the supper. Had to buy supper out too.

A stupidly expensive day. Ah well, tomorrow I'll do better.Donna

after a quick glance at all my food today, I realized I can do this challenge with no problem at least thru February. I still have TONS of food. Today we got out a bag of frozen bean soup as well as some frozen chicken salad for lunch.

I just saw this challenge, so Im going to join it for the rest of the month. I cleaned out two cabinets yesterday and realized that there is way too much stuff in there I forgot I had.
My freezer is jam packed because I cant resist temptation when it comes to B1G1 sales on meat, especially roasts. But the sales will still be there when my freezer is more in order : )
Going to make lists of what is in the freezer and the pantry today so that I can organize a menu to clean them out

I haven't been keeping up with this challenge mainly because my mom made me a huge pot of spaghetti with clam sauce and a friend made dinner a couple of nights so I've been eating from that for the past week. I finally got through all the leftovers two days ago.
So yesterday I had some banana bread waffles from the freezer for breakfast. I had a long day of work and only brought some lemon tea flavored water and the last sleeve of honey butter Ritz crackers from the pantry so I guess that was my lunch. Dinner was a can of spaghetti and meatball pasta from the pantry. I'm so healthy...“When the sun rises, it rises for everyone”

Man, I think the leftovers breed once the fridge closes! There seems to be more everytime I look in there! We've been steadily chipping away at them . . . tonight is butternut squash soup and I think dh is going to try a new rye bread recipe for the bread machine. Any leftover salad will accompany.

I took out a package of ham from the freezer last night, had ham and eggs for breakfast. Supper is just leftovers and when I get home late I'll probably have some leftover soup. So not much forward progress on the freezer and pantry today.

Tonight I'm using cooked spaghetti and marinara sauce from my freezer. I'm not having a problem using the freezer contents but I am using my pantry contents.

Made pizza tonight. Used sliced green pepper from freezer, some old cheese from the fridge, and some old Italian seasoning (I doubled the amount just to be sure!). It was really good.

Broke down and bought some steaks yesterday. Things were getting repetitive around here. Used the canned potatoes with it though, rather than buying a bag.
Ran out of rice, used some wild rice I found in the cupboard to make up the difference. I need to go through that shelf and see what else is in there.
Going to make spaghetti sauce this week, will clean out the freezer while I'm doing it.
Thinking about trying to make banana bread in the toaster oven.

My entire menu this coming week is from my pantry and my freezer.
I also found some cookie and cake mixes that I will fix up for desserts and treats.
The only thing I added from the grocery store this week was a half chicken that was on sale for $2, and three very small cheap steaks that I will use for stock meat in beef stew.
The pantry shelves and freezer are busting, so this next week should give me some space to organize and inventory.
