March 2010 Pantry/Freezer Challenge
Good luck for March everyone.
Let's get those freezers cleared out as it won't be too long before the garden 'bounty' will need to go in there. WOOHOO!
You 'snow bunnies' hang in there----summer is coming!

I am officially on board. I did it last month, just didn't post here. I'm not trying to empty my freezer though. I don't work in the summer.I'm just trying to use up anything that may be hanging around a little long.
Brought up a container of chilli last night. That should take care of dinner at least 2x this week.

There is a huge freezer sale at my local store in March. I have NO ROOM to add to our freezer! lol So, I'm in for this challenge. DH and I are going to sort through the freezer tonight and get an idea of what is in there
That way we have some plan of attack!
I'm in for March.

Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Used up meat, canned corn, tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, can of mushrooms, and diced tomatoes. Also leftover hamburger buns from last nights dinner will be garlic bread. Two different kinds of pasta.

I didn't seem to post much last month, but I'm still doing this. I want a lot out of my freezer, so I am avoiding buying anything for it again this month - unless there are some spectacular convenience food sales. I do keep some to help avoid the fast food drive through.
I may be gradually starting the spring/summer pantry stockpiling in a small way. I bought some of the cardboard can organizers someone posted the link to. They should some soon, and will be an incentive to sort and inventory the pantry.
I do have a lot of canned tomatoes. I'll be checking dates on those and probably decreeing this the month of stewed tomatoes - which is NOT a hardship!Donna

The chili from yesterday did NOT make it to the freezer. It was better than yesterday!

I'm joining this challenge as I have a whole turkey from the holidays that needs to be moved out of the freezer. Some of it will be eaten and the broth, etc. parts will probably be returned to the freezer.
But here's the rub - in a few short weeks it may be TOO HOT to turn on the oven for an entire day! So, here's the challenge - roast turkey with all the trimmings within the next two weeks.
So if you don't hear back from me within two weeks - OUT me!

There's about 1/2 bowl left of the chili so tonight I think I'll have it with tostitos, shredded cheese and sour cream ( sour cream needs to be used too).
I think hubby will be wanting breakfast for supper so I have 2 bags of hashbrowns in the freezer..(maybe 1) and I want to get them used up. Even if he dosen't want breakfast I think I will do him serving of them. When they are gone I think I will start maing homemade ones again. Ore Ida prices went up here recently and for $3 bucks a bag I can buy 5 lbs of potatoes.
So that will take care of the last of the chili, last of a bag of tostitos and some of the sour cream before it bites the big one for sure. Rest remains to be seen yet.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck.
